Lana Find New Loves on The WB

Friday 16 July 2004, by xanderbnd

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Two of the hottest "Faces of The WB" will find new loves when their shows return this fall, producing inevitable romantic entanglements. The additions of Jensen Ackles to "Smallville" and Matt Czuchry to "Gilmore Girls" lead a fresh round of casting news.

Ackles will become a regular on "Smallville," playing the heir to a Metropolis financial firm who falls for Kristin Kreuk’s Lana Lang. A veteran of FOX’s "Dark Angel," Ackles starred in "Still Life," a midseason replacement that FOX never got around to airing.

Czuchry is another product of a failed pilot, having come to The WB’s attention in the network’s "Dark Shadows" effort. That actor, who has also been seen in CBS’ "Hack," will take a recurring role on "Gilmore Girls" as a love interest for Alexis Bledel’s Rory. Given the state of things at the end of last season, that could cause problems for Dean (Jared Padalecki) or, really, for everybody.

Over on FOX, Nicholas Gonzalez has signed on for four episodes of "The O.C.," playing a pool boy. There’s no word on whether or not the "Resurrection Blvd." co-star will get into a fight with Benjamin McKenzie’s Ryan or on which women he’ll heat things up with.

Also at FOX, Maz Jobari has been added to the midseason comedy "Related by Family."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime’s "Dead Like Me" will welcome "Simpsons" vocal regular Yeardley Smith as a recurring reaper who died on the Titanic.

In other cable casting news, Michael Trevino will star in the MTV pilot "U R Here" and Billy Aaron Brown will co-star in the ABC Family movie "Searching for David’s Heart."
