Aolmusicnewsblog.com Les Claypool Jams on the Big Screen (seth green mention)Jolie Lash Wednesday 15 November 2006, by Webmaster Les Claypool embarked on tour with Primus on behalf of the band’s new greatest-hits album, ’They Can’t All Be Zingers,’ but the dates don’t mark his first promotional appearances of the year. The alt-rock frontman has been wearing his filmmaker’s hat to showcase his movie ’Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo’ around the U.S. over the last several months. "It’s a mockumentary about an aging jam band in the San Francisco scene who catches [a couple of] big breaks, one of them being they get a spot on the Mecca of all festivals, Festeroo," Claypool explains in a phone call to AOL Music. He stars in the film as the drummer in the fictitious band Electric Apricot. He also recruited several of his pals to make cameos, including Phish’s Mike Gordon, the Dead/Ratdog’s Bob Weir, actor Seth Green and ’South Park’’s Matt Stone. With such a cast, you can expect the movie to be witty. "It’s very dry," Claypool notes. "When we were at [a film festival] there were these little old ladies in the audience who were like, ’That was great.’ They thought it was real, a real band." ’Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo’ will continue to be screened at selected festivals throughout the year, and Claypool is in talks to bring it to a wider audience in the future. |
