Joss Whedon may be missing from this Fall’s TV schedule, but the Whedonverse Multimedia Project plans to make sure he won’t be missing from your public library.

As part of our “Hometown Libraries of the Stars” campaign the mid-Manhattan branch of the New York Public Library system was nominated to receive an offer of DVD boxed sets for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly in Whedon’s honor.

It is a fitting tribute that the project will begin in Manhattan where Whedon grew up. The plans are to have these three critically acclaimed series available to libraries all across the country.

Other libraries included in the project will be from the hometowns of the stars who helped bring Whedon’s vision to life. In the first round of nominations, the libraries for the five stars below will also be contacted and offered a donation of DVDs.

Julie Benz - Murrysville, PA
Adam Busch - East Meadow, NY
Jewel Staite - Vancouver, CAN
James Marsters - Modesto, CA
Alyson Hannigan - Atlanta, GA

In addition, the following libraries have already signed up to be on the waiting list:

Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library - Tennessee
Delton District Library - Michigan
Round Lake Area Library - Illinois
Playa Vista Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library - California
