Meet the Naughtiest American Pie Film’s Spiciest Star (alyson hannigan mention)

Premiering today on DVD, American Pie: The Naked Mile upholds the franchise’s legacy for overdoing outrageousness by following Erik Stifler, a younger cousin of the original films’ Steve (Seann William Scott), and a virgin above all else - unheard of within the clan of bad boys. As Erik braves college and an annual event called the Naked Mile (in which the student body’s collective bare body streaks ’cross campus), he draws the interest of comely coed Brandy, played by Candace Kroslak. TVGuide.com quizzed Kroslak about the Pie series’ juiciest (and unrated) entry.

TVGuide.com: So how are you summing up Brandy for prospective American Pie 5 viewers?

Candace Kroslak: She’s pretty much the college sorority girl that every guy tries to date, but she has a major thing for virgins. What really excites most girls doesn’t do it for her. She prefers first-timers for her conquests. That said, she’s a really sweet girl with a huge heart.

TVGuide.com: The "collegiate-event stripper with a heart of gold"?

Kroslak: Pretty much, yeah. She’s a Naked Mile stripper.

TVGuide.com: As an up-and-coming actress, did you have any hesitation about grabbing your slice of the American Pie franchise?

Kroslak: No, I definitely would have always done the movie. The only hesitation I had was when I found out it was about the Naked Mile. That threw me off a little bit, but I decided [to just go for it]. I was in.

TVGuide.com: Have you seen the finished cut?

Kroslak: I have.... [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: Is it your opinion that this is one of the naughtiest American Pie films yet?

Kroslak: This is, by far, the naughtiest one. It’s shocking!

TVGuide.com: At one point, for the actual Naked Mile race, there are a lot of male and female students standing around - naked - at the starting line. Tell me, was the weather at least favorable for all of you?

Kroslak: Oh, yeah, it couldn’t have been better. There were a few spots where we were chilly, because we were naked all day, but for the most part it was definitely comfortable.

TVGuide.com: Did the fact that all of you were standing there bare-bodied make it any easier to doff your own duds?

Kroslak: Totally. I remember looking at my costar and saying, "OK, I don’t think I can do this," and she said, "Well have you looked around?" I turn around and there are literally 260 naked people. I was like, "OK, this is no problem at all." [Laughs] Everybody is naked, no one really cares, no one is looking at anybody.... It was fine.

TVGuide.com: In real life, have you ever been caught naked in an unusual place/circumstance?

Kroslak: No! [Chuckles] No way.

TVGuide.com: Who from this cast most impressed you? Who has the potential to be a breakout star?

Kroslak: You know, I’ve really gotten to know these people a lot, and I would say all of the actors, honestly, are going to be really successful. Because they’re very serious about their craft, and they’re definitely good at what they do. Not one of them, would I say, will never be seen again. Not one of them.

TVGuide.com: It was nice of Eugene Levy (aka "Jim’s Dad") to swing by for another made-for-DVD sequel.

Kroslak: Yeah, right? We were happy about that!

TVGuide.com: Who’s your favorite alumnus of the American Pie-proper films? If I may be so bold as to use "American Pie" and "proper" in the same breath.

Kroslak: I hate picking one person out. Obviously Jason Biggs is great, and I love Seann William Scott.... Eddie Kaye Thomas always made me laugh, because his character was just so crazy, but all the actors were amazing.

TVGuide.com: Out of the ladies, whose career could you see yourself emulating? You have Alyson Hannigan making funny on How I Met Your Mother, Mena Suvari doing the big-screen thing, Tara Reid... being a car wreck.

Kroslak: [Laughs] I want my own sort of career. There is not one of them I would want to copy exactly. I would say Shannon Elizabeth did pretty well for a while; I don’t really know what happened. Each person did something of their own, and I don’t want to emulate that. I think my career will be a little different.

TVGuide.com: Remind TVGuide.com readers where they might have recently seen you on TV.

Kroslak: Well, I did a guest spot on Shark, I did a new show coming out called Rules of Engagement [a mid-season CBS series], and I did What About Brian, which a lot of people know. And Las Vegas, How I Met Your Mother....

TVGuide.com: Now you’re not a regular on CBS’ Rules of Engagement, are you?

Kroslak: You may see me on the publicity posters and stuff, but no, I am not.

TVGuide.com: Would you be open to a series-regular TV gig?

Kroslak: Of course, that would be amazing. I’m going out for the next pilot season.

TVGuide.com: What was this Ocean Avenue series I see on your résumé?

Kroslak: That was a syndicated telenovela we shot in Miami for a year. It was crazy - 130 episodes in nine months. It was really, really big in Sweden, but it never got here.

TVGuide.com: Some of the guys who see you in Naked Mile may wonder if Ocean Avenue is available on DVD.

Kroslak: Oh, gee... I have no idea.

TVGuide.com: What kind of person was your character, Lindy Maddock?

Kroslak: She was a high-school model who caused a bunch of nonstop drama. She was a bitchy backstabber who, at the end of the day, got what she wanted.

TVGuide.com: Do you find it more fun to play that kind of role? Is that what you would want to do on TV?

Kroslak: I don’t know. I like playing the nice girls, and girls with a bit of spice, but I don’t really need to be the bitch. I’m pretty good at it, but... [Laughs] I definitely want to do something different.
