Michelle Trachtenberg - "Ice Princess" Teen Doesn’t Need Botox Yet

Wednesday 17 August 2005, by Webmaster

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Michelle Trachtenberg, a child star who’s transitioned to teenage roles, has an interesting take on what it means to be part of young Hollywood. In a recent interview, the "Ice Princess" star made comments that will doubtless cause a few frown lines from her more mature counterparts.

"I guess we’re not doing Botox yet," she says on Monday’s (Aug. 15) edition of "Access Hollywood." "I think that’s the meaning of young Hollywood, we still don’t need the Botox."

While the 19-year-old whippersnapper doesn’t require any cosmetic injections, her careless remarks imply an ageist view on older actresses "needing" enhancement.

Trachtenberg adds that she’ll milk being part of young Hollywood for all its worth.

"I’m happy to be a part of it," she says, "and I guess for another ten years hopefully I will be until somebody gets wind that I’m actually older."

It’s an about-face for the actress who was previously adamant about distancing herself from her kiddie roles in "Harriet the Spy" and "Inspector Gadget," leading her to take a role in the raunchy "Eurotrip" and heartbreaking "Mysterious Skin."

She’s even complained about playing the younger sister to Sarah Michelle Gellar in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," claiming that her character seemed to become more immature as the series went on.

Her other credits include a stint on "Six Feet Under" and the lead in the Lifetime TV adaptation of "The Dive from Clausen’s Pier," based on the novel by Ann Packer.

  • There is a difference between being young and being immature. Dawn was rather immature in season’s 5 and 6. Just because she’s trying to distance herself from those immature roles, doesn’t mean she shouldn’t capitalize on her youth.

And let’s face it...men in hollywood can age gracefully while women have to worry more about every little line and wrinkle. It’s a double standard that has always existed and will never go away. It’s wrong, but it’ll never change. Some woman are secure enough to refrain from cosmetic surgery and others get everything they can. :(
