From USA Today

When Six Feet Under returns to HBO on June 6, the Fisher clan will be thrown into "life-altering experiences and sexual experimentation," promises executive producer Alan Poul. "Our intention is to return to the lighter, unpredictable tone of the first two seasons."

Can’t find the source, but Eric Balfour(Gabe) & Rainn Wilson will also be returning & there is a chance that Lisa returns but along the lines of Nate Sr. And Keith has a new job as personal security to a pint sized diva(Michelle Tractenberg), that’s how Ellen comes into play. She is a guest on her real life talk show.

Fourth Season of “Six Feet Under” Starts Filming December 1, Details Revealed

Written 11-15-2003 by ChrisFaile

The fourth season of HBO’s critically-acclaimed series “Six Feet Under” will begin filming December 1 in Los Angeles, FilmJerk.com sources have learned. Picking up shortly after the previous season’s finale, the initial episode, entitled “Falling Into Place,” will see the introduction of the family of Nate’s late wife, with several of them recurring characters.

At the end of last season, Nate Fisher (played by Peter Krause) received the phone call he’d been dreading for three episodes: The police had found Lisa’s body, which was only identifiable by her dental records. In a state of utter despair, he goes to a local dive bar and there goads a patron into beating him into a bloody mess; later, in his car, he envisions his dead father and Lisa urging him to commit suicide by driving himself off the road into a canyon. The episode closed with Nate being invited into ex-girlfriend Brenda’s home. In the same episode, Federico Diaz (Freddy Rodriguez) also found himself indulging in some marital infidelity. According to our sources, each of these happenings are dealt with in the first episode.

Presumably in a little better state by the time of the season premiere, viewers meet Barb Woodsworth, the sister Lisa was going to see in Santa Cruz when she disappeared. Described as “grounded, sensible and sweet,” she is married to a “Jeff Daniels-type” husband named Hoyt Woodsworth and has three children.

While Barb seems to be a recurring character, Lisa’s two parents look to be only on for one episode. Peg Kimmel, Lisa’s mother, is described as “way too thin” and understandably distraught over her daughter’s death, she digs in her heels with Nate over certain things that she expects. Ed Kimmel, he husband, is described only as a “defeated man.” Michaela, Barb’s oldest daughter, also forms a special bond with Michael C. Hall’s David and looks to recur on the series.

Also in the premiere, Federico visits a priest for a confession, most likely to ask forgiveness for his indiscretion. Part of the episode will also go back to 1972 as well.

The episode is written by Craig Wright and will be directed by Michael Cuesta, who each have several episodes of the series under their belts already. The fourth season of the series is expected to premiere in June 2004.

The Scorecard Executive Producers: Alan Ball, Robert Greenblatt, David Janollari and Alan Poul Director: Michael Cuesta Writer: Craig Wright Casting Directors: Junie Lowry Johnson and Libby Goldstein Start Date: December 1, 2003 Location: Los Angeles Production Company

From Filmjerk:

Episode 2 is “In Case of Rapture." We meet Claire’s new friends Edie and Annette. Keith gets a crappy security job. Someone gets a shipment of dildos and blow up dolls. And the Sheedy kids lose a parent.

"Episode 403 is called “Parallel Play." We get a new character in Celeste, a rock singer, and our opening death is a young girl who is laughing with her friends and falls off her bed and breaks her neck."

Anything on HBO: Sex and the City, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under?

Oh, just a little breaking casting news: Michelle Trachtenberg (you know, Buffy’s "sis") and Mr. Jennie Garth, Peter Facinelli of Fastlane, just closed deals to guest star in the upcoming fourth season of Six Feet Under. As you know, scripts can change, but producers are planning to use Facinelli as an art student who slides his easel next to Claire (Lauren Ambrose). And Trachtenberg plays a young, diva-ish singer for whom Keith (Michael St. Patrick) provides private security. This comes after plans for Drew Barrymore, then Cameron Diaz, fell through (as I reported a while back).

Justin Theroux IS going to be back as Joe, for about 8 episodes.

Six Feet Under: In “Can I Come Up Now," we meet George’s son Kyle. Nate sees a psychic about Lisa. And our corpse du jour is a man struck by lightning.

Here’s info on the fifth episode: The fifth episode of the upcoming new season is called “That’s My Dog” and will be a Alan Poul/Scott Buck directorial/writing pairing, where a new lead character will join the mix. Described as a well-built and handsome young man, Jake’s charming manner conceals a deeply sadistic and unbalanced nature. It looks like this week’s opening death involves a 40ish couple having some fun in a hot tub. Also, Nate attends a church’s bereavement support group; everyone there is in their 60s except for Nate, resulting in him feeling terrifically out of place.

Minor casting news from Zap2it.com:

In other cable news, James Waterston will appear in multiple episodes of HBO’s "Six Feet Under." The son of "Law & Order" star Sam, Waterston’s credits include the HBO telefilm "Live From Baghdad" as well as guest appearance on "ER" and "Law & Order." Rumor has it he’ll play George Sibley’s son.

Fanny, unfazed by a late start, has been taken to L.A. by her mother, actress Brooke Smith. Brooke just signed for a recurring role on the coming season of HBO’s hit "Six Feet Under." I always describe Brooke as the girl-kept-down-in-the-well in "The Silence of the Lambs." From knowing Hannibal Lecter in that film, she went on to play the distinguished Anthony Hopkins’ love interest in "Bad Company," which also starred Chris Rock.

LOS ANGELES, Jan 09, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) —

Lili Taylor’s "Six Feet Under" character, Lisa, will return to the series — even though she died last season. "She is a presence in Nate’s consciousness, much the same way his father is," TV Guide Online quotes Alan Ball, the creator of HBO’s quirky funeral-home drama, as saying.

"Actual physical death doesn’t necessarily mean somebody’s not going to be on the show," he added, noting Nate (Peter Krause)’s wife will return for a handful of new episodes when the new season starts in June.

Fisher family patriarch Nate Sr. (Richard Jenkins), Nate’s father, was killed in the first episode of the drama, but has returned to converse with his family numerous times over the last three seasons. Corpses the funeral directors work with on the show are also known to briefly return from the dead to tell their stories as well.
