First known for playing gentle "companion" Inara on the short-lived series "Firefly" and in the movie spin-off, "Serenity," Baccarin will take on the role of Adria on "Stargate SG-1." The role will be an adult version of Vala’s child. "I love the character she is truly evil," the native Brazilian told an interviewer at The Scifi World website. "The worst kinds of people are the ones with no acceptance and she is one of those. What she believes is the word of God. And I get to wear really cool contacts!" Adria reportedly will initially appear as a rapidly-growing child in the tenth season premiere, "Flesh and Blood," and it is believed that Baccarin’s first appearance as the adult Adria will be in "Counterstrike." The character will recur throughout the show’s new season. Asked what kind of relationship Adria will have with her mother, played by Claudia Black, Baccarin replied, "A loving one in Adria’s book. But in my world very twisted." Baccarin said she enjoys working in the scifi genre. "I think it’s interesting and very creative," she said. "A lot of imagination and intelligence usually goes into creating these worlds and I love being a part of it." New episodes of "Stargate SG-1" return to the SciFi Channel on Friday, July14, at 9 p.m. - Article by Scott Nance |
