Nathan Fillion - "White Noise 2 : The Light" Movie - Di-ve.com Review

Star rating: * * *

The only reason I chose to see this movie was because Nathan Fillion is in it. Fillion (known as Captain Tightpants to all fans of the TV series "Firefly") was one of the stars of the short lived sci-fi western series so beloved with all Joss Whedon fanatics (Whedon is the genius creator of TV series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, for all those who don’t know it). So as a die-hard Firefly fan, I felt I had to see the movie. And it’s actually not a bad way to spend the time.

Fillion plays Abe Dale, a normal nice guy who goes through the horrific experience of seeing his family killed before his eyes. He can’t cope with the survival guilt, and tries to commit suicide, but he doesn’t succeed. When he returns to normal life, however, he finds that he can see auras around people - white light - which signify that that person is about to die. So Abe turns hero, trying to save all the people who are supposed to die. But sometimes when you try to change destiny, worse things happen!

This horror movie isn’t going to set box offices on fire, but it’s suitably scary, with some good fright scenes, and of course, there’s Nathan Fillion, who’s great in the lead role, and actually makes you care for his character. Definitely better than expected.
