Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will host his annual Celebrity Sports Invitational at Fairmont Banff Springs hotel and Sunshine Village, Jan. 18 to 21. Movie stars such as Alec Baldwin, Woody Harrelson, Tim Robbins and Virginia Madsen are scheduled to attend the event, which will have them competing in events such as toboggan, biathlon and dual giant slalom races at Sunshine. They’ll also attend a $500-per-person gala dinner on Jan. 20. "It’s a great way to showcase the Canadian Rockies to the rest of North America, and it’s a lot of fun," said Crosbie Cotton, a spokesman for the event. "For the price of one ski lift ticket, you can see everyone." A gold table for 10 is worth $10,000 for the dinner and comes with a celebrity table guest. Seventies rock icon Peter Frampton is scheduled to perform at the gala affair. Baldwin, Robbins and actress Marcia Gay Harden will act as co-hosts for the event along with Kennedy. The 45 expected celebrity attendees come from a broad spectrum, including astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Canadian Olympic skier Karen Percy-Lowe. Kennedy founded the Waterkeeper Alliance in 1999 as an organization to keep lakes and waterways safe from pollution. Last year, the event raised $1 million. Money raised this year will go to the Canadian chapter of the organization. Tickets are available to the pubic through Fairmont Banff Springs.
