From Joblo.com Nicholas BrendonNicholas Brendon - ’Unholy’ Movie - Early Draft ReviewBy Matt Withers Thursday 27 January 2005, by Webmaster Whoo boy! Guess we’ve all learned to duck one way or another when an ex decides it’s time for a little payback. Such appears to be the case with an email I got today which claims to be the first 14 pages of an early draft of UNHOLY. It comes courtesy of a young lady whose time at NYU gave her an axe to grind with a certain screenwriter. Now what she sent looks legit to me, or I wouldn’t mention it, but keep in mind that it’s always possible I have been suckered in by the shite of a bull. Now I’m not going to post the pages I got, because it’s clearly from some time ago and that’s plain unfair to the writer. However, I’m more than happy to report that the script gets off to a quick start, has some legit scares and images in it (bloodshot eye is all I’ll say...yikes), and definitely had me wanting to read more. It’s got the usual bumps that you’d expect from an early draft, but clearly shows a writer ready to tackle genre subject matter. On top of that, he’s able to make a couple of things scary on the page, which is hellatough. Just to give you a taste of what’s in store this early - cellar stuff, attic stuff, shotgun stuff, mom plays piano while daughter acts loco stuff, creepy locals stuff. And that’s just 14 pages in! So I think we’ve really learned two things today. 1 - UNHOLY is one promising project! 2 - Ex-girlfriends have long memories and the patience of Hannibal Lecter. 1 Message |
