Comicbookresources.com Previewing the 2006 comic-con international in sandiego (southland tales mention)Arune Singh Monday 17 July 2006, by Webmaster Graphitti Designs With some high profile media-tie ins, expect Graphitti Designs to be in the news quite a bit more. Bob Chapman, of Graphitti Designs, spoke to CBR News about the company’s convention plans. Who is your company and what do you do, publish, etc? We are Graphitti Designs and we’ve been the principal producer of quality licensed merchandise for the comics specialty market since 1982. Though not a traditional comic book publisher with regular monthly comics, our current book publishing projects include Richard Kelly’s (Donnie Darko) “Southland Tales” [Check out CBR’s interview with the creative team here] and Kevin Smith’s “Clerks II.” Where can we find your booth at the convention? Any big flashing lights, signs or anything else we should keep our eyes open for? We will be located in space #2215 right next to DC Comics. What do you have for sale or distribution at the booth? Any convention exclusives? We will have many screenprinted shirts, action figures, playing cards and books available for sale at our booth. We also have a “Clerks II” Comic that will be exclusive to this years San Diego and Wizard Chicago shows. The books includes a new 20 pages story from Kevin Smith and Jim Mahfood titled, “Where’s The Beef?” This story gives the reader the backstory of how Dante and Randal got their jobs at the Mooby’s Restaurant. Will there be any signings, raffles, or other events at the booth that fans should aim to schedule into their plans? “Southland Tales” writer Richard Kelley and artist, Brett Weldele, will be at the booth to meet their fans and sign copies of “Southland Tales: Book I.” Finally, is there anything else you want to share with fans about your booth and plans for Comic-Con International? We have lots of new swag for everyone to see this year. Come by and say "hello" to the Graphitti Designs staff while checking out the new “Chasing Amy” InAction Figures, “Southland Tales: Book I,” the “Hold’em McNeill” Poker Cards, the “Clerks II Screenplay,” the “Remember Blüdhaven” and Alex Ross’ “Make Love Not War” T-Shirts and the numerous other cool things that will on display at our booth. |
