R.I.P, Moose - The Reel World (southland tales mention)

Vacationers who set off to Disney World are going to receive a special treat when they venture off to the newly renovated Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The ride, which spawned the hit film franchise, has been updated with bigger cannon explosions, more gold coins and an animatronic figure of Captain Jack Sparrow.

After the huge success of “X-Men: The Last Stand,” Fox has decided that the third installment in the “X-Men” franchise won’t be the last stand of main character Wolverine. Fox confirmed that a spin-off Wolverine film is in development and that it would probably be slated for a 2008 release.

After being panned by critics at the Cannes Film Festival, writer/director Richard Kelly’s follow-up to his cult classic “Donnie Darko,” “Southland Tales,” has been picked up by Sony Pictures.

“Southland Tales” stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Seann William Scott and is set in a postapocalyptic Los Angeles in 2008.

Fans of “The Sopranos” can breathe a sigh of relief because with just one week to go before production kicks off on the final eight episodes of the hit Mob drama, four of the show’s stars have resolved pay disputes with cable network HBO. Lorraine Bracco (Dr. Melfi), Jamie-Lynn Sigler (Meadow), Aida Turturro (Janice) and Robert Iler (Tony Jr.) have all signed deals to return with significant pay increases. Still left in the air are series regulars Steven Schirripa (Bobby Baccala), Steven Van Zandt (Silvio Dante) and Tony Sirico (Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri).

In one piece of news that I really couldn’t care less about, Star Jones Reynolds was fired from her daytime job on “The View” on June 28, one day after surprising ABC by saying on air that she wouldn’t be returning to the series in the fall.

Finally, some sad news - Moose, the Jack Russell terrier who played Eddie for over a decade on the hit TV series “Frasier” has passed away. He was 16 and a half and died on June 22 of old age in his home near Los Angeles. Trainer Mathilde Halberg rescued Moose from a dog pound in the early 1990s and discovered the canine was a natural actor.
