The Avengers

Let’s be honest for a moment here, folks: Beyond the fact that "Due Date" comes from "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips and leading men Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis, there really isn’t anything else you need to know about the project to determine whether or not it’s your cup of tea.

That’s not to say that there isn’t fun to be had on the "Due Date" front — there is. Lots of fun, it turns out, as MTV’s very own Josh Horowitz discovered at the movie’s red carpet premiere in New York City earlier this week. As you’re about to learn, the trio of Downey, Galifianakis and Phillips is not only a mighty force, but a hilariously awkward one as well.

Mike Tyson’s Punch Out

During the interview, MTV gently reminded Downey and Galifianakis that they’ve both suffered on-screen punches from Mike Tyson — the former in "Black and White," the latter in "The Hangover." It was a fact that neither actor had put together previously, leading Galifianakis to share some wisdom: "My advice to take a punch from Mike Tyson is to just try and not make it happen. It’s just make believe."

Muppet Mayhem

Recent rumors of Galifianakis’ possible involvement in the developing "Muppets" movie came up, prompting the "It’s Kind of a Funny Story" comedian to fumble with his response. "I do not know a lot of things that people ask me," he offered in his signature deadpan. "I don’t know anything." Can we consider that an official non-denial?

Avengers Assemble

Of course, no interview with Robert Downey Jr. is complete without getting the actor to comment on his work as Tony Stark, the armored superhero better known as Iron Man. Downey said that he’s read "The Avengers" writer-director Joss Whedon’s screenplay, which he described as "fantastic" but needing, well, a few alterations: "Joss Whedon is awesome, and once I tear his script to smithereens and fix it, we’re going to have a great movie."

The Tables Have Turned

The interview ended as all interviews should, with Galifianakis stealing another news outlet’s camera and filming his fellow interviewees. It was a weird way to end a weird conversation, but in the weird world of the brilliant "Due Date" trio, we can’t say that we haven’t seen weirder.
