Ultimate-guitar.com Rollins Band Reunites (eliza dushku mention)Wednesday 12 July 2006, by Webmaster The final routing for the "As The World Burns" tour - featuring the classic Rollins Band lineup reunited for the first time in nearly a decade, along with trailblazing punk legends X - has been confirmed. Tickets for the most recently added dates go on sale Saturday (June 17). The tour marks the first time that the Rollins Band lineup best known for the 1994 album Weight and its hit "Liar" will hit the road together since 1997. Henry Rollins - along with bassist Melvin Gibbs, guitarist Chris Haskett, drummer Sim Cain, and producer/sound man Theo Van Rock - kick off the month-long tour at the Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, CA on July 27. After wrapping the tour at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin, TX on August 30, Rollins Band has a pair of headlining shows scheduled for September. "Not since 1997 have we played together, so it’s a big deal to us. We are very excited to be back together and to be out playing in America this summer," says the band’s frontman and namesake Henry Rollins. "The band is really sounding great. I can’t wait to get out there." Along with the classic Rollins Band roster, the original lineup for roots-punk legends luminaries X - Exene, John Doe, Billy Zoom, and D.J. Bonebrake - takes to the stage armed with a cache of seminal songs like "Los Angeles," "Johnny Hit And Run Paulene," and "The Have Nots." "We have been working hard at band practice getting a good set of songs together," says Henry. "[We] are looking forward to playing dates with X - one of the greatest live bands of all time." Currently, Henry is in Vancouver filming Wrong Turn 2, the sequel to the 2003 horror film which starred Eliza Dushku. In the film, Henry’s character hosts reality TV show The Ultimate Survivalist, only to find that he and the show’s contestants unexpectedly have to survive a family of backwoods cannibals. In real life, Henry continues his successful run as TV host on the Independent Film Channel’s The Henry Rollins Show, which premiered April 1. The weekly show - previously the monthly Henry’s Film Corner - incorporates an eclectic selection of musical acts, a wider range of celebrity guests, and new, original field segments. Upcoming studio guests and musical performers include Billy Bob Thornton (July 1), a solo performance by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke (July 15), glam legends and punk forefathers New York Dolls (July 22), and writer/director Steven Gaghan (August 5). Henry’s own Rollins Band performs on the show’s August 12 episode. Henry also remains a fixture on the L.A. airwaves with his weekly radio show "Harmony In My Head," which airs Tuesday nights from 8-10pm on Indie 103.1 FM in Los Angeles, and online at indie103.fm. Henry continues to post annotated playlists from the show at harmonyinmyhead.com. An expanded version of the notes from last year’s shows is now available in the book Fanatic!, out on Henry’s own 2.13.61 imprint. |
