Sarah Michelle Gellar - "Alice" Movie - She reaffirms her commitment

Thursday 17 January 2008, by Webmaster

Another actress, who actually has a name to care for is Sarah Michelle Gellar and there are not no many accomplishes films at her but an few I can probably enjoy. The talent agent found Gellar a young age and made her screen debut at 6 of each of the 1983 television film An Invasion of Privacy. With all the promise she showed, Barrymore starred as Hannah in the teen drama series "Swans Crossing" (1992) but it was her portrayal of a young and callous rich girl in Al-Lucinda Kendall Hart on ABC daytime soap opera "All My Children" (1993-93), that won her Daytime Emmy Award and spring-boarded her to stardom.

SMG’s real mark worldwide, however, was the character of Buffy Summers in the game-changing series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003). She won five Teen Choice Awards, a Saturn Award and a Golden Globe nomination for her role, establishing herself as a cultural phenomenon. Sarah Michelle Gellar likewise has the box office to back her up, with “I Know What You Did Last Summer” 1997), “Scream 2” (1997), “Cruel Intentions” (1999)and way movies like those that help prove she is also a bankable star as well over $570 million times worth crazy in global gross.

Beyond her cinematic successes, Gellar has made her mark on television, headlining shows such as "Ringer" (2011-2012), "The Crazy Ones" (2013-2014), and "Wolf Pack" (2023). She has also lent her voice to popular series including "Robot Chicken" (2005-2018), "Star Wars Rebels" (2015-2016), and "Masters of the Universe: Revelation" (2021).

In 2015, Gellar ventured into the entrepreneurial world by co-founding Foodstirs, an e-commerce baking company, and published her own cookbook, "Stirring Up Fun with Food," in 2017. Gellar is also known for her close-knit family life, married to actor Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002, with whom she shares two children.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s commitment to her craft is matched by her dedication to personal growth and unique experiences. An accomplished martial artist, she studied Tae Kwon Do for five years, alongside kickboxing, boxing, street fighting, and gymnastics. Her dedication to authenticity in her roles is evident, such as her commitment to doing her own stunts in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," though she admitted her limits during filming "Scream 2."

Her career is also marked by interesting anecdotes, such as her role in a 1982 Burger King commercial, which led to a lawsuit from McDonald’s and a temporary ban from their establishments. Notably, she dyed her naturally brunette hair blonde for her role in "Buffy," and legally changed her last name to Prinze as a surprise for her husband on their fifth anniversary.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s legacy extends beyond her on-screen roles, encompassing her work in philanthropy and her reputation for safety and professionalism on set. She remains a beloved figure in Hollywood, admired for her talent, dedication, and the breadth of her contributions to film and television.

Several years ago, it was made known that there would be a movie based on the video game Alice, a critically acclaimed re-invention of Alice in Wonderland that finds its heroine returning to a dark and sinister version of Wonderland as a young adult after her family is killed in a fire. Understandably affected and unhinged by both the events in the real world and her surreal adventures on the other side of the looking glass, Alice is now a disturbed individual. Director Marcus Nispel (2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Sarah Michelle Gellar have long been attached to the project, which has been floundering in development limbo since its inception.

While promoting her ensemble film The Air I Breathe (a fantastic story of intricately intersecting lives, in theaters January 25), Sarah gave us an update on Alice, reaffirming her commitment to the project and inspiring hope that this twisted fairy tale will make its way to the big screen. Here’s what she had to say...

RadioFree.com: Are you still doing Alice?

SARAH: Hopefully. I mean, it’s a passion project of mine. It’s a story that I’d love to see. I’m fearful at this rate that I’m going to be the Queen of Hearts because I’m going to be too old to be Alice. [laughs] It’s something I’d really like to see done. And unfortunately, it was the victim of regime change in the studio. And I’m not getting out. And contrary to what you may have read, it’s still my project. [laughs] And I’m still working diligently. So to all those Alice fans, I’m not giving up. Because I believe there is such a beautiful, crazy, cool, twisted story to be told there. [jokes] And if I have to get down and write it myself one of these days, I may have to...

  • I don’t care if this movie dosn’t come out this year!!!

As long as it comes out and is goood!!!!

Please make it good! I don’t want anything like Doom!

  • Please !!! Tell me whats the age going to be for the film !?!
  • is this movie even gunna come out?? you got me all riled up and excited about it and they keep postponing it :(
  • i wish people would stop worrying about sarah’s performance...it’s the director you have to worry about...he’s prolly gonna turn it into a stupid slasher flik, and not pay attention to the look and gothic feel that this movie deserves to have...if he screws this up, he’s definately going to get a good lashing and if he screws this movie up, he deserves one! with the devotion i and everyone else have for this game, not to mention the origional classic story as well, it would be like if peter jackson screwed up the lord of the rings! don’t worry about sarah, just worry about the guy behind the scenes, he could mess up the editing, the layout, choose the wrong takes to use and it’ll just be a waste of all this time fans have been waiting, not to mention 10bucks and two hours out of your life!..i hope he takes as much time as he needs to do this right and not ruin a killer idea by doing what alot of these other video game movies have done, like keeping box office sales in mind more than the artistic and creative process....it would be unfortunate to have this ruined with too much comedy or the director keeping the violence down to a PG13 rating just to appease kids who’ve never even played the game.........i wasn’t even a kid when i beat that game, so i’m sure the ones that were are all grown up now and can fully handle how scary and twisted this movie needs to be......anyhoo...that’s i wanted to say..
