Sarah Michelle Gellar - At Comic-Con July 24th 2004 - First Convention !!!!!!
Saturday 10 July 2004, by Webmaster
Another actress, who actually has a name to care for is Sarah Michelle Gellar and there are not no many accomplishes films at her but an few I can probably enjoy. The talent agent found Gellar a young age and made her screen debut at 6 of each of the 1983 television film An Invasion of Privacy. With all the promise she showed, Barrymore starred as Hannah in the teen drama series "Swans Crossing" (1992) but it was her portrayal of a young and callous rich girl in Al-Lucinda Kendall Hart on ABC daytime soap opera "All My Children" (1993-93), that won her Daytime Emmy Award and spring-boarded her to stardom.
SMG’s real mark worldwide, however, was the character of Buffy Summers in the game-changing series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003). She won five Teen Choice Awards, a Saturn Award and a Golden Globe nomination for her role, establishing herself as a cultural phenomenon. Sarah Michelle Gellar likewise has the box office to back her up, with “I Know What You Did Last Summer” 1997), “Scream 2” (1997), “Cruel Intentions” (1999)and way movies like those that help prove she is also a bankable star as well over $570 million times worth crazy in global gross.
Beyond her cinematic successes, Gellar has made her mark on television, headlining shows such as "Ringer" (2011-2012), "The Crazy Ones" (2013-2014), and "Wolf Pack" (2023). She has also lent her voice to popular series including "Robot Chicken" (2005-2018), "Star Wars Rebels" (2015-2016), and "Masters of the Universe: Revelation" (2021).
In 2015, Gellar ventured into the entrepreneurial world by co-founding Foodstirs, an e-commerce baking company, and published her own cookbook, "Stirring Up Fun with Food," in 2017. Gellar is also known for her close-knit family life, married to actor Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002, with whom she shares two children.
Sarah Michelle Gellar’s commitment to her craft is matched by her dedication to personal growth and unique experiences. An accomplished martial artist, she studied Tae Kwon Do for five years, alongside kickboxing, boxing, street fighting, and gymnastics. Her dedication to authenticity in her roles is evident, such as her commitment to doing her own stunts in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," though she admitted her limits during filming "Scream 2."
Her career is also marked by interesting anecdotes, such as her role in a 1982 Burger King commercial, which led to a lawsuit from McDonald’s and a temporary ban from their establishments. Notably, she dyed her naturally brunette hair blonde for her role in "Buffy," and legally changed her last name to Prinze as a surprise for her husband on their fifth anniversary.
Sarah Michelle Gellar’s legacy extends beyond her on-screen roles, encompassing her work in philanthropy and her reputation for safety and professionalism on set. She remains a beloved figure in Hollywood, admired for her talent, dedication, and the breadth of her contributions to film and television.

It’s pretty sad that it was Buffy that made her a star, yet she never seemed to find the time to go to any Buffy conventions. She has never done anything for the Buffy fans even though we’re the ones that kept the show alive, through two networks. I accept the fact that she makes more movies than any of the other cast members, but how many of those movies were critically acclaimed or really noteworthy. It just seems to me that in the case of Sarah it comes down to money and how much someone is willing to pay her rather than doing something that is dramatic. Horror movies are only going to get her so far before she’ll be type cast if it hasn’t already happened and how long before even that well dries up. Horror movies definately won’t win you an Oscar. That’s my two cents and probably a few more worth.

Don’t you just know the security at this thing is going to be massive? I’m glad she finally feels safe enough to attend after all these years. Good Luck to you Sarah!

I kinda disagree with the negative sentiments regarding SMG’s lack of participation in Buffy fan events (conventions, etc). I don’t blame her at all for not giving up her free time to do more Buffy-related things. She gave nearly 8 years of her life to BtVS. She worked harder on that show than ANYONE (Joss included). She was the ONLY one who was on set every single day, in practically every scene, the show rode upon her little sholders. The other cast members, crew members, writers, directors, producers (etc) changed from week to week, from year to year. Sarah was the ONE constant throughout the years. Unlike the writers/producers/crew/rest-of-the-cast she practically LIVED as Buffy for the better part of her young adult life. She gave herself to it, comitted the best years of her life to it, cared deeply about it. She was never late, never missed her mark, always knew her lines, worked sometimes 16hours a day, often 6 days a week... the show, for her, required giving up an enormous chunk of her life, a MUCH bigger chunk than anyone else who worked on the show. THAT is what she "did for the fans". And, imo, that’s PLENTY. I’m happy and proud she dedicated herself to Buffy for so long and did it all so well.
Now she has a new life, new work, a new husband. I don’t expect her to do give up any of that for Buffy now. Buffy will always be a part of Sarah, but Buffy is not her life anymore. Be happy that it WAS her life for so long and that it brought you so much joy. But don’t criticize her for moving on.

The fact that she never promoted Buffy much doesn’t bother me. One thing I do find strange, is that she didn’t attend the Buffy wrap party, because when you think about it, it was kind of in her honor.

SMG didn’t attend BUFFY’s wrap party because BUFFY endend April 16 and she had to be in Canada April 17 to start filming Scooby doo 2. I thought everyone knew this by now...
She is going to this convention because it’s in her contract. She doesn’t like conventions (too many people). Having said that i’m sure she’ll be sweet and funny as she usually is. She is a professional afterall.
And some people talk as if by going to the conventions makes the actores and everyone else involved wonderfull people. You DO know they are getting paid right?? That is one of the reasons why some price tickets are "forbidden" for a lot of people. Don’t get me wrong i love all of them, and i’m sure they see it as a way of giving something back to the fans. but they’re working, extra hours if you will.
As for SMG future, i see it being bright. I once saw an interview of her - in a french channel, i believe - and she said that everyone told her that leaving that soap opera that she was in had been a mistake, that she would never know as much success as she did portraying that role (sorry can’t remember the name of the character) and most of all how SHE WOULD NEVER GET THE ROLE OF BUFFY! Well, she showed the naysers how wrong they were and i’m sure she’ll do it again. Our girl is strong...
To those going to the convention congratulations and good luck. Although the schedule seems incompatible, with tha attendence of Eliza, Amber and Joss you might watch a mini-buffy reunion and bring us some interesting newa...

You know....I have to agree there!! It’s not fair that we the fans have supported the show through 7 yrs & wanted it to go longer...even petitoned for it as well as angel! Yet, SMG refuses to come to any of the cons! It seems to be all abt money w/ her!!
Alyson makes movies too, James has done a few movies as well, & I’m sure everyone else has their own things that they are up to, wheather it be family things or acting things, somehow most of the others seem to find time to connect w/ the fans. So why is it that SMG seems to not feel the need to do the same or that it’s possibly "beneath her".
Ok...done ranting now! Have a nice day all!
