Teenhollywood.com Sarah Michelle GellarSarah Michelle Gellar - "I Know What You Did Last Summer" DVD Collection - Teenhollywood.com ReviewLynn Barker Thursday 17 August 2006, by Webmaster Another actress, who actually has a name to care for is Sarah Michelle Gellar and there are not no many accomplishes films at her but an few I can probably enjoy. The talent agent found Gellar a young age and made her screen debut at 6 of each of the 1983 television film An Invasion of Privacy. With all the promise she showed, Barrymore starred as Hannah in the teen drama series "Swans Crossing" (1992) but it was her portrayal of a young and callous rich girl in Al-Lucinda Kendall Hart on ABC daytime soap opera "All My Children" (1993-93), that won her Daytime Emmy Award and spring-boarded her to stardom. SMG’s real mark worldwide, however, was the character of Buffy Summers in the game-changing series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003). She won five Teen Choice Awards, a Saturn Award and a Golden Globe nomination for her role, establishing herself as a cultural phenomenon. Sarah Michelle Gellar likewise has the box office to back her up, with “I Know What You Did Last Summer” 1997), “Scream 2” (1997), “Cruel Intentions” (1999)and way movies like those that help prove she is also a bankable star as well over $570 million times worth crazy in global gross. Beyond her cinematic successes, Gellar has made her mark on television, headlining shows such as "Ringer" (2011-2012), "The Crazy Ones" (2013-2014), and "Wolf Pack" (2023). She has also lent her voice to popular series including "Robot Chicken" (2005-2018), "Star Wars Rebels" (2015-2016), and "Masters of the Universe: Revelation" (2021). In 2015, Gellar ventured into the entrepreneurial world by co-founding Foodstirs, an e-commerce baking company, and published her own cookbook, "Stirring Up Fun with Food," in 2017. Gellar is also known for her close-knit family life, married to actor Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002, with whom she shares two children. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s commitment to her craft is matched by her dedication to personal growth and unique experiences. An accomplished martial artist, she studied Tae Kwon Do for five years, alongside kickboxing, boxing, street fighting, and gymnastics. Her dedication to authenticity in her roles is evident, such as her commitment to doing her own stunts in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," though she admitted her limits during filming "Scream 2." Her career is also marked by interesting anecdotes, such as her role in a 1982 Burger King commercial, which led to a lawsuit from McDonald’s and a temporary ban from their establishments. Notably, she dyed her naturally brunette hair blonde for her role in "Buffy," and legally changed her last name to Prinze as a surprise for her husband on their fifth anniversary. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s legacy extends beyond her on-screen roles, encompassing her work in philanthropy and her reputation for safety and professionalism on set. She remains a beloved figure in Hollywood, admired for her talent, dedication, and the breadth of her contributions to film and television. Still want to have that summer sleepover scarefest before you buy school supplies? Then, this new set is for you! Three, count ‘um, three “Last Summer” movies in one set. This puppy will keep you and pals up and screaming all night! First is the classic that launched Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Ryan Phillipe and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s careers. You know the drill: small town, partying high school seniors accidentally run down a guy on an isolated road and decide they must keep it a secret. A mysterious guy wearing a rain slicker and carrying a hook decides they shouldn’t. I Know What You Did Last Summer Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 . No problem hearing the screams or other dialogue. Video: The anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer is very clean and clear even in the dark. Special Features: Really nothing but a trailer and the Filmmaker’s Commentary which is actually pretty entertaining. The director, Jim Gillespie, is Scottish so you get that Scott’s brogue accent telling you about shooting various scenes, things that went wrong, little tidbits about the actors, like the fact that there were only three wigs for the Sarah Michelle Gellar hair-cutting scene so they had to be extra careful to get it right, and a little gem about Jennifer Love Hewitt suggesting that she get rid of her sweater so she could strip down to a tiny tank top in her boat escape scene. Overall, this is a must for horror fans. The film launched many like it and also was the launch pad for the careers of some of today’s biggest young stars and... it’s scary and fun! A year after the original horrors Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is in college trying to get it together but is a nervous wreck. Her roommate, Karla (Brandy Norwood), wins a trip for four to a tropical island and, of course, the fisherman follows for some tropical blood on the palm trees. Freddie Prinze Jr. is also back and hot Mekhi Phifer is added as well. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 . No problem hearing the screams of Love Hewitt (she gives good scream) and the new cast members here either. Video: The anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer is a little murky in places but certainly workable. Special Features: Music Video: Jennifer Love Hewitt-How Do I Deal? Okay, this is great for Love fans... or your guy pal. She’s undulating on couches and jumping around in tight sweaters and tank tops. The music isn’t bad but not inspired either. Making of Featurette: The usual brief actor commentary from Love, Brandy, Freddie, Mekhi and the filmmakers over behind-the-scenes antics. Cute shots of the cast soaking wet and goofing off in a Mexican rain storm. You learn that the film was shot at an abandoned resort in Jalisco, Mexico that was very eerie and maybe actually haunted. Overall: A pretty good sequel. Not as much set up and more stalking and killing in the dark this time but Hewitt and cast make the most of it. Still a lot of fun. That fisherman dude with the hook never dies! Now he’s gone supernatural and is after some teens in a small Colorado town. The gang accidentally kills a friend as part of a supposed to be harmless 4th of July prank. The survivors make a pact to never tell “what they did”. One year later, they get picked off one by one! I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 . No problems here. Dialogue is clear as are the killing sounds of the creepy fisherman dude. Video: The anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer is very clean and clear. Special Features: Director’s Commentary - Director Sylvain White provides a commentary that really just describes what we are seeing. Not that illuminating. Behind the scenes featurette: The Making of I’ll Always Know - contains the usual cast and crew goofing off and talking about their roles. It looks like they had fun at least. You also get some trailers of upcoming Sony films. Wrapping Up: This movie doesn’t star a bunch of young actors you would recognize but who cares? You get some spooky action at a carnival and a ski lodge off season. At least that is a new arena for this type of horror. Not stellar and barely connected to the original plotline but okay to rent. Final wrapup: The first two films came out as a set in 1998. This boxed set is it again with the new film added. If you were too young in ’98 to go for that set, this is the one to have in your collection for horror nights with pals...hot young actors in some creative scares...can’t beat it for a sleepover chill fest! 1 Message |
