Sarah Michelle Gellar - Prinze laughs off Gellar Buffy Movie Reports
Monday 15 August 2005, by Webmaster
Another actress, who actually has a name to care for is Sarah Michelle Gellar and there are not no many accomplishes films at her but an few I can probably enjoy. The talent agent found Gellar a young age and made her screen debut at 6 of each of the 1983 television film An Invasion of Privacy. With all the promise she showed, Barrymore starred as Hannah in the teen drama series "Swans Crossing" (1992) but it was her portrayal of a young and callous rich girl in Al-Lucinda Kendall Hart on ABC daytime soap opera "All My Children" (1993-93), that won her Daytime Emmy Award and spring-boarded her to stardom.
SMG’s real mark worldwide, however, was the character of Buffy Summers in the game-changing series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003). She won five Teen Choice Awards, a Saturn Award and a Golden Globe nomination for her role, establishing herself as a cultural phenomenon. Sarah Michelle Gellar likewise has the box office to back her up, with “I Know What You Did Last Summer” 1997), “Scream 2” (1997), “Cruel Intentions” (1999)and way movies like those that help prove she is also a bankable star as well over $570 million times worth crazy in global gross.
Beyond her cinematic successes, Gellar has made her mark on television, headlining shows such as "Ringer" (2011-2012), "The Crazy Ones" (2013-2014), and "Wolf Pack" (2023). She has also lent her voice to popular series including "Robot Chicken" (2005-2018), "Star Wars Rebels" (2015-2016), and "Masters of the Universe: Revelation" (2021).
In 2015, Gellar ventured into the entrepreneurial world by co-founding Foodstirs, an e-commerce baking company, and published her own cookbook, "Stirring Up Fun with Food," in 2017. Gellar is also known for her close-knit family life, married to actor Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002, with whom she shares two children.
Sarah Michelle Gellar’s commitment to her craft is matched by her dedication to personal growth and unique experiences. An accomplished martial artist, she studied Tae Kwon Do for five years, alongside kickboxing, boxing, street fighting, and gymnastics. Her dedication to authenticity in her roles is evident, such as her commitment to doing her own stunts in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," though she admitted her limits during filming "Scream 2."
Her career is also marked by interesting anecdotes, such as her role in a 1982 Burger King commercial, which led to a lawsuit from McDonald’s and a temporary ban from their establishments. Notably, she dyed her naturally brunette hair blonde for her role in "Buffy," and legally changed her last name to Prinze as a surprise for her husband on their fifth anniversary.
Sarah Michelle Gellar’s legacy extends beyond her on-screen roles, encompassing her work in philanthropy and her reputation for safety and professionalism on set. She remains a beloved figure in Hollywood, admired for her talent, dedication, and the breadth of her contributions to film and television.
SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR has refused to reprise her BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER role for the big screen, according to her actor husband FREDDIE PRINZE JR.
The SCOOBY DOO star, 29, has laughed off recent reports his stunning wife will play vampire hunter BUFFY SUMMERS in the movie version of the hit TV show, which ended in 2003.
Before the TV show began in 1997, JOSS WHEDON wrote the script for the 1992 flop movie, starring KRISTY SWANSON and LUKE PERRY.
Prinze Jr says, "Not with Sarah. I’ve never heard of it coming back whatsoever."
Prinze Jr adds of Whedon, "(He’s) on the movie train right now, and it hasn’t stopped yet. So I think he’ll be on that for a while."
He explains, "It didn’t work. That’s why they made the TV series. It worked much, much better as a TV series. It worked so well as a TV show, I don’t think Sarah would want to invest in something that’s already failed once."

Hey just a comment for some reason Freddy in any articles i have read has said bad things about Sarahs involvement in Buffy saying hwo stressful it was on her, and now saying she will never resprise the role. But sarah has never come out her self and said it. Obviously i dont want to comment on their relationship but he seems a bit controlling, like just after they got married she announces she wont be signing on for another season of buffy and now these comments...Jealous i think

"I don’t think Sarah would want to invest in something that’s already failed once." Buffy was a hit T.V. show; it still is. If it was made into a movie it would most likely be successful because unlike the first, it has popularity and a major fanbase. If I was Freddie, I would be more worried about myself since his career seems to be lacking these days; but that’s just my opinion. ;)

What an absolute BASTARD!!! How much do we all hate that stupid Freddie guy. In my opinion (and i agree with the controlling comment) he is the reason for no Buffy season 8. Also, with Sarah as the role of Buffy, who would not go to see the movie??? That guy is such an idiotic asshole, I’m sorry but he is. - ah that feels good, I’ve let out all my anger. p.s Sarah should definatleyt rethink the whole marriage thing, lol.

what a freakin moron he shouldn’t comment on things that he no idea about. he shouldn’t even speak for sarah and her future plans on btvs. what a jackass to comment about the movie failing and if there were going to be a btvs movie that would fail too. he has no idea about the btvs fanbase. the show has changed so much that the movie could go in a successful direction way different from the 92 one with kristy. and with sarah and possibly some other cast memebers (like eliza) i think it would kick ass!

Yeah he sucks. But so does SMG, who has ALWAYS turned her back to the fans of the series. Good riddance. Give me Angel, Spike, or Faith any day of the week. Those 3 were the ones who made Buffy such a hit.

Ryan>@I just think Sarah is just saying what the fans want to hear. But Freddy Jr is telling us exactly how it is and how she feels (behind closed doors.)..Because if she wanted to do a BUFFY MOVIE.I dont think hell on earth would stop her..She doesnt even go to Buffy Conventions, when all the others do.Funny they all say they’d love to be in the BUFFY MOVIE.Yet shes the only one who doesnt go to these conventions .Guess thats a hint in its self that Buffy for her isnt what she wants any more..finished to her is Finished for good...Thank full for what it did for her career ..But thats all.

The movie was abosolutely nothing like the show, and a new movie would not be anything like the old one. It wouldn’t even make sense to call it Buffy 2, because it wouldn’t be a sequel to the first. You can’t base how well a second movie would do on the first one.

Let’s face it, Joss has always blamed his film faliures on others. I love the guy, loved Buffy and Angel (seasons 1-5 of Buffy, anyway), but the Alien Resurrection scripts (I have read the final shooting draft and the early draft) were pretty much identical, yet he still blames the director, nevermind the fact he basically scrapped all previous continuity and the queen giving birth was a pretty horrendous idea from conception, he blamed it on the director and called him unimaginative and lazy....a year or two before he went on to win an oscar. He said that X Men was gonna suck because his contributions were pretty much ignored aside from one or two lines (one being the infamously bad toad line), and ended up eating humble pie when it got critical praise.
That said, I think SMG is very diva like and thinks she is above Buffy...but lets face it, her films haven’t exactly set the box office on fire, and haven’t had as much depth or meaning as Buffy. Im glad there wasn’t a season 8 since the show had fallen from grace two years before, but there would be no reason not to do a movie, which I think would work in Joss’ hands, since this would be his baby and not someone else’s franchise.

To John who said "Yeah he sucks. But so does SMG, who has ALWAYS turned her back to the fans of the series. "
That is NOT true at all!! She constantly says how great it was working on Buffy, being Buffy, how amazing the show and character were, how proud she was, etc. She probably just doesn’t want to do a movie beacuse it wouldn’t work as one. She also worked on Buffy for 7 YEARS!! You know she is a person and may want to do something different!!

"nevermind the fact he basically scrapped all previous continuity and the queen giving birth was a pretty horrendous idea from conception"
yeah, I’d imagine the conception must have been pretty horrendous. ;)

I am so sick of Buffy fans thinking that she owes you something, by doing a Buffy movie. She isn’t Buffy in real life. She is an actress who likes to try different things. If you think that her career is over because she isn’t doing another Buffy movie, think again. I’m hearing great things about her and about southland tales. I hope it helps you sleep at night, thinking she won’t have a career. I’d go as far to say that if her career ends, it’s because she will do a Buffy movie. As for FPJ, I’ll bet her knows her more than any of you do. If internet fans can say horrible things about her without knowing her, then FPJ can certainly comment on her career. He is her husband.
Also to John, Sarah made Buffy a hit. It was a hit before plastic surgery face Eliza ever joined the show.

I think Freddy might be a little controlling 2! because before they got married we heard from sarah that she wanted to keep the show going and she was hopping they could make it to ten seasons then they get married and she doesnt want to continue? but one can only assume, for all we know she didnt want to do the show for along time and freddy could just be ’if you dont want to do it anymore then dont’
