Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 11, 2004 — On Wed, May 5, Lisa Rowe, media liaison for Saving Angel (www.savingangel.org / www.savingangel.com) presented Angel Creator Joss Whedon with a check in the amount of $13,000 for donation to the International Committee of the Red Cross. On receiving the check, Mr. Whedon stated that he was overwhelmed by the fans’ efforts, and that it reaffirmed his belief that AtS had the best fans, and most generous. The presentation took place at the 30th Annual Saturn Awards (www.saturnawards.org) in Los Angeles. (photo attached). "I was incredibly proud to represent a group of people as committed and giving as the Angel fans worldwide. Our efforts did not go unheard or unnoticed,” Rowe said after the event. Saving Angel has conducted several fan-based campaigns this year to protest the cancellation of Angel the Series and to advocate for Quality TV. The campaign garnered unprecedented media attention for its ads in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, and its mobile billboard truck with the slogan "We Will Follow Angel To Hell...or Another Network." The campaign was featured in Variety, The New York Post, the L.A. Times, USA Today, TV Guide, the Ryan Seacrest Show, the Sharon Osbourne Show, NPR radio, E! Entertainment News, and KTLA radio, among others. This latest endeavor by the organization is the fulfillment of one of its original goals, to demonstrate that the fanbase is not only committed but generous. The charity was chosen to reflect both the international nature of the fans who contributed to the campaign and the mission of the title character, Angel - to "help the helpless." 1 Message |
