More To Come . . .

Updated: 07/20/2009

I’m writing this the Friday before Comic Con in San Diego, and everyone at Dark Horse has been going crazy trying to get ready for the show, in particular Saturday morning’s Dark Horse panel, where we’re going to be making some big announcements. I recently told the Slayalive board that there would not be any major announcements relating to Joss — we won’t be announcing Twilight’s identity, or another Tara appearance, or that #31 will be the last issue.

But there will be some cool Joss announcements at the Dark Horse panel, Saturday, 11:00 a.m. in Room 2. As you’ve probably read elsewhere, Joss will be screening Dr. Horrible on Thursday night. Then in his panel on Friday at 4:00, he and Eliza will be debuting the 13th episode of Dollhouse, never before seen. (Yes. I know that’s what debut means. It bears repeating.) You may also have seen something about the reusable convention tote bags we’re giving out this year — there’s one with the Buffy logo, so be sure to come by the Dark Horse booth looking for one of those. Joss will be signing at our booth, Saturday at 5:30, with the team from Dr. Horrible, including Joelle Jones, the artist for the next comic story. We’ll also have Jane Espenson and Georges Jeanty signing in the booth. Look elsewhere on this site to see the complete Dark Horse schedule.

I’m looking forward to the show to see Joss, Georges, Zack Whedon, Jane, Felicia Day, the team from Tales of the Vampires, and a bunch of other people that I only see a couple times a year. For everyone not going to San Diego, sorry if this entry seems like a tease, but right now we are all just so completely focused on the convention that I can’t think of Dark Horse or comics or Buffy except in the context of the convention. If you aren’t going, keep an eye on the interwebs — Dark Horse’s site, Newsarama, CBR, Buffyfest, to name a few, all of which will be covering the show.

But the world doesn’t end with San Diego, even though I’ll feel that way once or twice in the next week. First week of August sees the release of Buffy #27, Jane’s second issue, which shows the new direction for the Slayer organization, and Oz’s contribution to it. We’ve got another 2-pager done for Dark Horse Presents, whenever and wherever that sees light again. Unfortunately, issue #25 will not go online the first week of the month. We managed to get #24 up on time — and if you haven’t seen it, go to darkhorse.com/dhp right now for a great little Joss and Jo Buffy story! — but we need a minute to regroup before we get the next issue online. When it does, expect a Buffy short from Jane Espenson and Karl Moline.

Wish us luck in San Diego —
