News.com.au FireflySerenity sequel on the cardsJonathon Moran Monday 16 October 2006, by Webmaster Note from Whedon.info : Joss Whedon has officially said 2 weeks ago there is no sequel in works.
FANS of US sci-fi TV series Firefly and spin-off flick Serenity will be happy to know another movie could be on the horizon. Texan-born actor Summer Glau, who played River in the series and the film, said director Joss Whedon would like to make another film based on the crew of the Serenity spaceship. "There is still a chance," said Glau from Los Angeles. "Joss is busy with other things right now, but we have the option of making more and all of us are under contract to do that. "We are all going along, doing other jobs, but always hoping that we will be united again." The film was released last year and also starred Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres. The story, set 500 years in the future, follows the crew of transport spaceship Serenity, who embark on a battle against a mighty empire. Glau arrives in Australia later this week for the Supanova Pop Culture Expo, kicking off at Sydney’s Olympic Park on October 27 and running for three days. Other actors slated to appear at the convention include Kevin Weisman from Alias, Mira Furlan of Lost, and Clare Kramer from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Voice actors from series such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also attend. For Glau, conventions were more than just signing autographs and meeting fans, they were an opportunity to see the world. "I am trying to get anywhere where people invite me," said the 25-year-old, who attended a convention in Brisbane earlier this year. |
