From Eonline.com Seth GreenSeth Green - About Himself & ’Party Monster’ Movie - Eonline.com Q & ATuesday 12 August 2003, by Webmaster Seth Green GreenIn Party Monster (opening everywhere Sept. 5), Seth Green fans get to see the wee actor like never before. The movie’s based on the halcyon days of Michael Alig (Macaulay Culkin), the notorious promoter who’s now serving time for the murder of a fellow club kid. It’s a messy story, but then so was NYC nightlife from the mid ’80s to the mid ’90s. Green, 29, plays Alig’s running partner, best friend and biographer, James St. James; both were wildly flamboyant party animals who never really knew when the party was over. Although Green played a werewolf on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, he typically takes roles that are less showy—quirky, maybe, but hardly as out there. Earlier this year, he played a tech expert in The Italian Job, and he had a memorable run as Dr. Evil’s bratty son, Scott, in the Austin Powers trilogy. He’s also the voice of Chris Griffin on Fox’s on-again, off-again animated series The Family Guy. Green hails from Philly, where he was born on Feb. 8, 1974. His mom’s an artist, and his dad taught math. His career began as Jodie Foster and Rob Lowe’s little brother Egg in The Hotel New Hampshire. He dabbled in teen flicks with Can’t Buy Me Love, Can’t Hardly Wait and Idle Hands, but fortunately, he didn’t get stuck there. Next up, he appears as a historian in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed and then with Doo costar Matthew Lillard in Without a Paddle, a comedy about a camping trip that goes horribly and hilariously wrong. Green is not a newcomer to Star Boards, having tackled your Q’s last year. Now he’s tackling a whole new slew of questions, so read on to find out about the future of Oz, Seth’s must-see movies, his pranky past and more... rom IrishHawk: Will Oz turn up on Angel? No one has approached me. I’m not opposed, but it would have to make sense. From lizard217: Are you single? I never talk about that stuff. From kduel22: Do you have any hobbies? I do. From bounce22: When you’re not working, what do you do for fun? I play Ping-Pong for fun. From srocket: Are you a closet artist? I’m out and proud. From orlybabi: How old were you when you knew you wanted to be an actor? How did you break into show biz? At seven, my uncle referred me to an on-camera training school run by my soon-to-be manager. From cao6473: Which of the characters you’ve played are as close to you as the rest of us will ever know? There are elements of each character I’ve played that are similar to me; you have to relate somehow. From whitewolf324: If you weren’t an actor, what would you do? Probably make toys or comics. From sherrymt: What has been your favorite role and why? Kenny in Can’t Hardly Wait, Scott in Austin Powers and James in Party Monster, because of the fun challenges. From deawrites: Tell us about the challenges of playing a gay or bisexual character, as in The Attic Expeditions or Party Monster. A character’s sexuality is far less challenging than developing their personality. At the end of a day, your character loves someone—man or woman, it’s the same kind of love. From chickenbird: What do you think of Buffy fan fiction, if you think about it all? I don’t think about it at all. From r4ch4elr: What movies can you not live without? Raising Arizona, Deathtrap, Wet Hot American Summer, Defending Your Life. From hipichick: What’s the one movie you think everyone should see? Party Monster. From skye72981: What do you remember from your Amazing Stories appearance? It was tons of fun; Josh Rudoy and I got to play all day, and the work was fun—running, yelling, flaming arrows, etc. From the_playa: Did you suspect your Punk’d episode was a setup? Any plans for retaliation? I never suspected because it was so elaborate, and I take people at their word. No retaliation now. From jazzy39: What’s the biggest prank you’ve ever pulled? My friends and I deflated some giant advert balloons from the tops of stores. And laughed. From dianeb92: Would you pursue a lead in a romantic comedy? Have you turned any down? I go for good characters in stories that appeal to me—I’m not genre specific. From trique: Have you ever considered Broadway? I haven’t ruled it out. From poohbear45236: What are your three favorite books? My three favorite books are Hope for the Flowers, by Trina Paulus; The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand; and Steppenwolf, by Hermann Hesse. From hipichick: What’s your guilty pleasure? Reality TV. From saraburger: Do you prefer mac and cheese in the blue box or Velveeta? Kraft Dinner, as the Canadians say. From elmellon: What’s your favorite junk food? I love junk food. I’m eating a Tootsie Pop right now. From heatherdumas: If you could meet any two people, dead or alive, who would they be? Whoever wrote these questions and whoever is transcribing them, just to say thanks. |
