LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 Ratings for the Summer Olympics fell just a little bit Wednesday, but NBC still dominated the competition. NBC averaged a 17.0 rating/28 share in primetime, down from Tuesday’s women’s gymnastics-fueled 17.7/28. Still, NBC more than tripled the ratings for second-place CBS, 5.0/8. FOX took third at 3.2/5, beating ABC’s 3.0/5. UPN averaged 1.7/3 and The WB 1.4/2. Among adults 18-49, NBC beat the total of the other five nets with a 10.0 rating. FOX was second in the demographic with a 2.1. CBS averaged 2.0, ABC 1.6, UPN 1.0 and The WB 0.8. NBC opened its night from Athens with a 13.6/24 at 8 p.m. CBS took second for the hour with "60 Minutes," 5.1/9. ABC got a 4.4/8 from two episodes of "My Wife and Kids." FOX’s first showings of "Family Guy" in two years averaged 2.9/5. "Amish in the City" finished fifth for UPN, beating a "Smallville" repeat on The WB. Ratings for the Olympics improved considerably at 9 p.m., jumping to 18.3/29. CBS remained in second with an hour’s worth of "The King of Queens," 4.3/7. Two more episodes of "Family Guy" averaged 3.4/5 for FOX. ABC dropped one spot to fourth with "The Drew Carey Show," 2.5/4. A second "Smallville" moved The WB in front of UPN and "The Player." The Olympics peaked at 10 p.m., giving NBC a 19.1/31 for the hour. CBS’ "48 Hours Investigates" was second at 5.5/9, while the ABC News special "The Reunion" came in at 2.1/3. |
