Geek Chic: Smart Women in Popular Culture (Paperback)

There is a long discussion of Fred on p. 32-44 in the chapter titled "Lab coats and lipstick: smart women reshape science on television" by Lorna Jowett. In fact, it’s almost the entire chapter. The author should be well-known for her book Sex and the Slayer: A Gender Studies Primer for the Buffy Fan, published in 2005. She says in the new book (p. 32): "I focus on the character Fred, an especially brilliant woman scientist who stars on the television show Angel".

Within the book there are other mentions of Buffy and Angel outside of that chapter, as well.
