Rory: "It’s 11 o’clock at night! Who are you planning on hooking up with, Spike and Drusilla?"

Spike and Drusilla are two of the vampire characters on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" which formerly aired in the "Gilmore Girls" time slot. Danny Strong, who plays Doyle in GG, was a recurring character on "Buffy", and executive producers Jane Espenson and Rebecca Kirshner are former members of the "Buffy" writing staff.
