From We Band Of Buggered Yahoo Group Buffy The Vampire SlayerSpike Trading Card - We Band Of Buggered Yahoo Group ReviewBy Theresa Saturday 12 February 2005, by Webmaster Hi All, Just received my trading card sets and here is the review. The main set is basically set up in chronological order starting with William and Cecily at the party. They go in order of events rather than the order we found out about everything on the show. At the top of the reverse side of the cards it says ’Becoming Spike’. Do you have Spike starting with Cecily at the party, meeting with Dru in the alley, going back to see him mum, meeting Angel, seeing Angel with Dru, hanging around with Angel while searching for The Immortal, encounter with the Chinese Slayer, Spike in black hair on the WWII submarine, Spike and Dru together, Spike and the Subway Slayer (original not season 7 version), Spike and Dru in Sunnydale, Spike seeing Buffy on Halloween, Spike injured, Spike with Angelus and Dru, etc. right through to Season five of Angel at the alley in Not Fade Away. There are a couple of cards out of order (Spike working with Adam after he gets his chip but then the next card is Spike torturing Angel for the Gem of Amarra) but overall the method words pretty well. The titles are pretty neat too. For Buffy-s death in -The Gift- the card title is -Devastated.- For his talk with Buffy when she returns from the grave it says -Empathic.- When they start discussing the season 6 Spuffy relationship, the card is entitled -Rough Stuff- and has a picture from Smashed but the description is pretty good. -Believing she was snatched from heaven and brought back to a torturous life, Buffy was strangely changed. Spike seemed to be the only one who saw her true self, but their encounters were violent, confusing and frequently mutually degrading.- I have to say I-m pleasantly surprised that they say -mutually.- They luckily don-t have a Seeing Red card. After -Rough Stuff- they move to -Bargain- which says -Tormented by Buffy-s rejection and the weight of his own actions, Spike traveled around the world seeing a cave-dwelling demon. He underwent many trials, making a life and death bargain - the best he ever made - to regain his soul. Sorting it Out- says -When Buffy-s team lost faith in her leadership, she-s left alone again. Returning from his trip, Spike found her. When Buffy complained that she pushed people away, Spike stopped her. He explained that his love for her was not based on her unavailability, but his belief in her goodness. Inspired but exhausted, she slept in his arms.- For those slashers out there, card number 42 is called -Bound- and
states -Laurel and Hardy, Lucy and Ricky, Lennon and
McCartney-throughout the years there have been famous partnerships
that endured despite disagreements. Spike and Angel can be added to
the list. They traveled to Italy, hot on the trail of Buffy and the
infamous Immortal, to discover that - despite more than a century of
bickering - they know each other better than anyone else. The final
Next is the -Bloody Pains- cards which are Spike-s nemesiseses, and then -Spike Speak- with definitions of various Spike words (including effulgent!), and then the -Ladies Man- cards that describe his relationships with Drusilla, Harmony, Willow, Buffy Bot, Dawn, Buffy, Anya, and Fred. I also purchased the box loader -Hero-s Journey- cards which include
