Stargate SG-1 : "200" parodies sci-fi and fantasy favorites (firefly mention)

The two-hundredth episode of Stargate SG-1 promises to be utterly unlike any other, with puppets and zombies and Furlings promised — not to mention a return from former star Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O’Neill. And things just keep getting wilder.

The new issue of TV Guide magazine shows off some of the cast’s zany antics, revealing that "200" will send up a plethora of science fiction and fantasy favorites, with the cast playing parts in fictional concepts of The Wizard of Oz and Farscape, among others.

Fans of the Sam and Jack romance can apparently also look forward to an imaginary wedding.

The episode also spoofs Star Trek (as featured in SCI FI Channel’s recent ads for the episode, available to watch online at YouTube.com), and tips its hat to other fan favorites, including Firefly.

"Every scene is an homage to things that we’ve alluded to over the years of this series," actress Amanda Tapping ("Samantha Carter") told the magazine. "It’s an homage to our fans. We hope that they will embrace it and go, ’Hey, they’re talking about us!’"

"The commandos recount their missions," the article reads, "not letting facts get in the way of a good yarn. Gung-ho Mitchell, for example, spins a tale of single-handedly taking on a gaggle of ghouls, while Black’s Vala conjures up the ’Oz’ story (appearing as a leather-clad Dorothy)."

Pick up the August 14-20 issue of TV Guide (with 24’s Kiefer Sutherland on the cover) on news stands next week! The issue includes a 2-page feature on Stargate SG-1’s milestone episode, and a sidebar interview with the man who has appeared in the most episodes, Christopher Judge ("Teal’c").

"200" is sure to be an event not to be missed by any sci-fi fan! The episode airs Friday, August 18 at 9 p.m. on SCI FI Channel.
