TV Gal Gets Sentimental for Characters Past (Monday, November 17 08:02 AM) By Amy Amatangelo LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - November has been like an extended old home week in the world of television. Dan Futterman was back as Amy’s brother "Judging Amy." Christina Applegate reprised her role of Rachel’s self-centered sister Amy on "Friends." Evil Francie was back with some super healing powers on "Alias." Matthew Perry came back to "The West Wing." Heaven knows those Camden kids on "7th Heaven" never go far. This week we’ll see Lilith on "Frasier" and Drusilla on "Angel." The episode with Dru is amazing. I’ll go as far as saying it’s one of the best episodes of "Angel" and "Buffy" ever. I’m not kidding. It’s an episode that rewards viewers who have been with the Joss Whedon universe since the beginning. "Destiny" has everything you could want — the reappearance of Dru, multiple mentions of Buffy, a showdown between Angel and Spike that has literally been brewing for centuries and a whopper of a surprise (my mouth is still open in utter shock). Heck I even liked Eve after the whole thing was over. But seeing Dru (once again perfectly and eerily played by Juliet Landau) made me realize what other faces I’ve been missing this season: Cordelia on "Angel": Do I really need to explain why? We simply can’t leave our beloved Cordy in a coma forever. Rumor is that she’ll be back for the 100th episode; let’s hope that’s a prophecy that comes true. Quotes of the Week "Sex with robots is more common than most people think," Spike to Angel and Fred on "Angel." Ah, remembering the Buffybot. Such good times. To the TV Gal Reader Belongs the Spoils Remember how I said that I thought there was a really good reason Andrew survived the apocalypse on "Buffy"? Well, word is, my second favorite member of the troika will be showing up on "Angel" very soon and since there are so many slayers running around, it looks like Captain Forehead and his crew will be getting a slayer of their very own. And, yeah, they’re going to be needing her help. Highlights of the Week Ahead, Part 1 Well I’ve heard from so many readers who are positively delighted that Spike is on "Angel" (Wednesday, WB, 9 p.m.) that I’ve finally accepted that his character simply divides fans right down the middle. Some people love him and well, some people don’t. Whatever you think of Spike I think we can all agree that last week was a terrific episode of "Angel" (Wednesday, WB, 9 p.m.). The show shines when it delves deep into a character’s past, something you can’t do when you’re busy trying to produce stand alone episodes. And trust me, you don’t want to miss this week’s episode. |
