Question :I’ve heard little bits and pieces about Tim Minear’s (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) new show Wonderfalls. I was hoping if you could shed some more light on what it’s about, and most importantly, when we might see it. - Travis

Matt : Wonderfalls is a wonderfully offbeat series that Fox is holding until midseason. No clue yet when and where it will air, but the buzz is already considerable from those who’ve seen the delightful pilot. The high concept is part of a trend that includes Joan of Arcadia and Tru Calling, in which a young woman begins hearing otherworldly voices, but Wonderfalls plays it as comedy. The heroine is an overeducated slacker working in a Niagara Falls souvenir shop who suddenly begins hearing voices coming from stuffed animals and other inanimate objects, urging her to do things for reasons she can’t yet comprehend. The tone is ironic and whimsical, and I hope Fox doesn’t bury it on Fridays (which is where the first major holes on the schedule already have appeared). If the show sustains its early promise, this could develop into one of the season’s happiest surprises.

Question : At the beginning of the season, I heard about a show starring Buffy alums Bianca Lawson (Kendra) and Eric Balfour (Jesse), but I haven’t heard anything since. Has this show been pushed to midseason or what ? - Theresa

Matt : They were supporting players on a WB action series called Fearless, which was deemed unready for the fall season after it was initially announced to be Gilmore Girls’s companion piece on Tuesdays. (After watching the Fearless pilot, I have to agree with WB that this looked even worse than One Tree Hill, which replaced it.) As far as I know, Fearless is still on tap for midseason, but whether there have been any cast changes during the retooling, I’m clueless.

(it’s great to see that Angel held its own against the baseball competition last week)
