"The Avengers" Movie to be filmed in the Pittsburgh area

The Pittsburgh area is getting a small slice of "The Avengers."

Finally got confirmation that the production will do what it’s calling "secondary filming about an hour outside Pittsburgh" although actors will not be here. Even without cast members, "Avengers" will be in Western Pennsylvania (apparently Butler area) at the same time as "The Dark Knight Rises" is shooting.

"The Avengers" movie will unite a galaxy of superheroes played by the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner. It’s targeted for a 2012 release.
