From Eonline.com Buffy The Vampire SlayerThe Stars Tell Sunnydale Tales—and We Bid Adieu to Buffy with a Scoobylicious Live ChatMonday 19 May 2003, by Webmaster Grrr, argh! Does it really have to end? How will life go on without our beloved Scoobies? And what the bejesus am I going to do with myself on Tuesday nights? If you’re like me, these are the questions keeping you up at night, because however uncool it may seem to those twits who never really gave it a chance, Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been a part of your life for the past seven years. It’s going to be rip-out-my-heart hard to say goodbye this Tuesday. Which is why I’ll welcome two Sunnydale faves the day before—to ease the pain. Nicholas Brendon (Xander) and Emma Caulfield (Anya) are set to chat live this Monday at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. They’ll answer all your burning questions about the big series finale on Tuesday—and anything else Scoobylicious you’d like to know. We’ll even be giving away some prizes so cool you’re gonna have to pry them from my Buffy-lovin’ hands. Everyone who enters the chat is eligible to win either one of five not yet released (they come out June 10) Buffy the Vampire Slayer—The Complete Fourth Season DVDs or actual Buffy props we’ve scored from the big eBay auction going on right now (you can bid on more than 500 items): A set of Sunnydale High cheerleader pom-poms and a Sunnydale High Razorbacks seat cushion. To enter the chat, you need to be an E! Online member—so if haven’t yet, join now. Also, don’t forget to read the rules. And for the perfect parting touch, see our Bye-Bye, Buffy feature package—Q&A’s with the Scoobies and with creator Joss Whedon, as well as video clips and a kick-ass timeline of Hellmouth history. Now, with that bidness out of the way, as I gear up to write a big, flashy, heartfelt tribute to the show that has meant so much for so long—I find myself at a loss, too weepy for words. So, I’m going to do something I’ve always wanted to do—turn the stage over to the Buffy stars we too seldom get to see. They all came out for the big Buffy wrap party a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, the gushy-wushy feelings were rampant. SETH GREEN (Oz) Love him. And I’m not the only one. Seth arrived late in the night—as the red carpet was shutting down, actually, but the place went bonkers for the guy we all knew and adored long before he was Scott Evil. He and Nicholas Brendon were inseparable—walking the red carpet arm in arm, a bit teary-eyed, as if they hadn’t seen each other in years. Joss was visibly touched that Green showed. And he should be thrilled to hear Seth’s take on whether he’d do another Buffy project: "If Joss wrote and directed anything, I’d be interested in coming back on, regardless of the content." All-Time Favorite Oz Moment: "Very early on," Green said, "Alyson Hannigan and I had a really good scene in a van, where I told her I wouldn’t kiss her. I liked that because it said so much about our characters and the simplicity of the relationship." TOM LENK (Andrew) The guy was clearly the star of the night—at least, as far as his fellow Mutant Enemies were concerned. During the shindig, they showed a very funny bloopers reel, and every time Tom came onscreen, the Buffy peeps—everyone from Joss to the grips—hooted and hollered like crazy. All-Time Favorite Andrew Moment: "When we were in our togas dancing on the hillside with the unicorn, and I was singing," Lenk recalled. "I got to make such an ass of myself, and it was so much fun. I love that when I’m interviewing for jobs people think I’m really like my character. I say, ’But I’m not really singing and dancing on a hillside in a toga. I only do that on TV for everyone to see!’ " DANNY STRONG (Jonathan) Also a huge favorite with the cast and crew, he’s one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in Hollywood. Though it might be easy for some to start taking a Buffy gig for granted, Danny was humble and grateful as can be: "It has meant the world to me." All-Time Favorite Jonathan Moment: "I loved the episode ’Superstar,’ which was all about my character—and I got to wear good clothes for once. There was also an episode called ’Dead Things’ in which me and my cohorts killed a girl, and all of a sudden our goofy subplot became very dark. We were all really proud of that episode." JULIE BENZ (Darla) She’s also in the über-grateful category, mostly because Benz is one of us. "I’m a huge fan of the show," she said. "I haven’t worked on Buffy in years; I’ve mostly been on Angel. But I’ve been a huge fan of Buffy, and I’ll just miss watching it as a fan." Favorite All-Time Darla Moment: "All of them. It’s always been a real treat for me. Darla was in the pilot for Buffy, and I was literally the first face shown onscreen for the whole series, so that in and of itself you can’t compare to anything." EMMA CAULFIELD (Anya) We weren’t able to get a full Q&A with her for our big Buffy package (which is why I’m so thrilled she’s coming to chat Monday), so I wanted to at least share her favorite Anya moment with you, because she is, frankly, da shiznit. All-Time Favorite Anya Moment: "I loved the musical," Caulfield said, "I love her whole funny rock opera. But I also did an episode where it was sort of Anya’s journey, and they followed her back in time. I had to speak Swedish for three pages. Seeing that on film, with the hair and the bunnies, that was a pretty great moment. I’ll miss Anya. She got under my skin, and I won’t be the same without her." I know the feeling—weepy again. |
