’Buffy’ fan favorite countdown yields surprising results

The fact that Logo’s begun airing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reruns every night has been the greatest addition to my life since ... well, since Joss Whedon created the series. Knowing that we’re an opinionated bunch, Logo let "BtVS" fans take over programming this weekend with a Fan Favorite marathon that supposedly counted down the 30 favorite "Buffy" episode we had chosen online.

Well, save for a few exceptions, I really, truly, do not agree with the list. At all. Like, even a little bit. While I can’t argue with "Once More with Feeling" snagging the number one slot, or "Hush" coming in at number two, those were "event episodes" — all singing! no talking! — so their inclusion doesn’t really count.

Looking at the third choice — "Something Blue" — my jaw drops, heart sinks and mind shatters. This was the episode where a lovelorn Willow accidentally puts a spell on Buffy & Spike, making them think they’re in love. It’s mostly a throw away episode to those of us who aren’t Buffy/Spike ’shippers. Which is what many of the episodes on this list feel like.

Where’s "Earshot?" Where’s "Restless?" Where’s "Passion" or "Innocense?" I mean, if they’re really going to rank "Something Blue" as the third most favorite episode of "Buffy" ever, why not just go the whole nine and rank "Beer Bad" as number four?
