They may walk tall down the red carpet, but many of today’s celebs prove the old adage that less is more.

From the pint-sized Kylie Minogue (5ft nothing in her flip flops) to Danny DeVito at 4’10" - there are plenty of tiny celebs out there. Sarah Michelle Gellar may pack a demon-dealing punch, but the Buffy The Vampire Slayer star is hardly a killer when it comes to height - just over 5’2", in fact.

Rumours abound of certain Hollywood stars going to great lengths to appear taller than they are in press shots... to the point of standing on boxes for shoots with taller co-stars.

Geri Halliwell, however, managed to disguise her 5’2" frame with enormous platforms during the Spice Girls days.

Anna Friel - the former Brookside actress who has just become a mum - is another 5’2" celeb, while Helena Bonham Carter is 5’3" (but somehow seems shorter).

Fugees singer Lauryn Hill can certainly reach the high notes - but possibly only with the help of a stepladder - she’s 5’2".

Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones’ gruff growl also hides the fact that the Welsh singer is 5’5" - a giant from Kylie’s angle, but somewhat more diminutive for the ’Phonics own bassist (Richard Jones, well over six foot).

And Colombian singer Shakira? Well, this songbird is a tiny 4’11".

Proof that sometimes, in the celebrity world, less really does mean more...
