 Ratings Breakdown: In a night riddled with repeats, the strength of CBS’s Survivor: Pearl Islands (#1: 12.8/19) and non-original telecasts of CSI (#1: 15.5/22) and Without A Trace (#2: 10.2/15) inched past NBC by two-tenths of a rating point (or two percent). In a rare time period loss, a repeat of NBC’s Friends opened with an 11.6/17 — five percent below the first half of Survivor (12.2/18). A Thursday installment of The Tracy Morgan Show followed with a 9.8/14 at 8:30 p.m. — 16 percent below Friends.

At 9 p.m., and sticking with NBC, Candice Bergen on Will & Grace fueled the over-the-top sitcom to a 12.1/17— 23 percent above Tracy Morgan and 22 percent ahead of lead-out Scrubs (9.9/14). At 10 p.m., ER took top rated honors for the evening with a 16.0/24.

Elsewhere, ABC remained a distant third with its combination of Threat Matrix (#3: 5.4/ 8), a repeat of Extreme Makeover (#3: 5.7/ 8) and Primetime Thursday (#3: 5.3/ 8). Fox remained out of the competitive loop, meanwhile, with Tru Calling (#5: 3.7/ 5) and 9 p.m. special Funniest Wedding Outtakes (#5: 4.1/ 6) seven percent, on average, below UPN’s diluted WWE Smackdown! (4.1/ 6).
