From Zapt2it.com AngelUndead March on to Showdown Final FourTuesday 7 October 2003 LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - In a Showdown of the Network Stars marked by upsets, there was one big one in the Elite Eight round. It’s maybe not a huge surprise that James Marsters of "Angel," a No. 6 seed, beat "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston in the Pacific time zone final. The wide margin by which Marsters defeated the Emmy winner, however, is a bit of a shocker. Marsters collected 5,494 votes in the Elite Eight round, thoroughly trouncing Aniston’s 1,572 tallies. He moves on to the Final Four to face a former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" castmate, "Tru Calling’s" Eliza Dushku. Even though her show hasn’t debuted yet, Dushku had enough leftover good will from her slayer days to beat another FOX star, Benjamin McKenzie of "The O.C.," in the Mountain time zone. Like Marsters, she won by a landslide : 3,795 to 1,454. The marquee matchup is on the other side of the final four, where defending champ Jennifer Garner of "Alias" will square off against Marsters’ co-star, David Boreanaz. Garner continued to waltz through the bracket, winning the Eastern time zone final by a comfortable 1,300 votes over "CSI" star Marg Helgenberger. Boreanaz had the closest call of any of the Final Four, but his Central time zone matchup with "Gilmore Girls" star Lauren Graham was hardly a nail- (or neck-) biter. He tallied 3,074 votes to Graham’s 2,216. Click here to vote : http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,274_643 |
