From Slayathon.org Buffy The Vampire SlayerUpcoming Buffy/Angel Event - Slayathon 2005Thursday 7 April 2005, by Webmaster It’s the stuff dreams are made of....... If you are amazed and touched by the fans of Angel who have organized Blood Drives across the US, then read this powerful story of how two fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer helped change the lives of children. Once upon a time, two Buffy fans came together, not only to share their love for the show, but also to put their passion to good use. Together, they formed Slay-A-Thon, an organization that raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity which Angel star J. August Richards also supports. Slay-A-Thon organizes a full day of watching the best Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes, where all the fans get together to indulge themselves in the best moments from the series. Together, they laugh and cry, all the time raising money via sponsorship to help children with life threatening diseases fulfill their dream. In 2003, Slay-A-Thon was able to send a five year old cancer patient to Disney World. Her dream was to meet Sleeping Beauty. And she did. Her wish was granted thanks to the fans who had attended the Slay-A-Thon events on 2003. Without the fans, the wish may not have been granted. In 2004, Slay-A-Thon raised the bar to grant two wishes!!! The attendees were treated to a special guest.... a Wish Child that the event was going to be granting a wish for! Amazing items signed by the cast of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel were auctioned off to help raise the funds. Along with the countless contributions the attendees brought to the event. With the help of fans, Slay-A-Thon raised over 10,000 dollars!!! Slay-A-Thon 2005 looks set to raise yet more money as the news has spread far and wide across the internet and fans are queuing up for a place in the exclusive one hundred strong crowd. Not only have they been given the opportunity to raise money for charity, but they also have the opportunity to present a home made videos on the seven years of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and five years of Angel. Not only will the winner be rewarded with a “cool slayer prize,” but their videos will be presented at the marathon. Along with the fan video, the best episodes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel will be voted on and watched during the event. There will also be a live auction, silent auctions and a raffle where fans will be able to get their hands on signed goodies from various stars of Buffy the Vampire Slayer such as Joss Whedon, Michelle Trachtenberg, Nick Brendon, Amber Benson, Anthony Stewart Head, Emma Caulfield, Eliza Dushku, Elizabeth Anne Allen, Kristine Sutherland, George Hertzberg, Charlie Weber, Rudolph Martin, Juliet Landau, Clare Kramer, Seth Green, Paige Moss and Robia La Morte. But it doesn’t end there, because the stars of Angel have also contributed. David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, James Marsters, J. August Richards, Alexis Denisof, Mercedes McNab, Stephanie Romanov, Vincent Kartheiser, Julie Benz, Sarah Thompson, and Christian Kane have all donated signed prizes.
