Zap2it.com Buffy The Vampire SlayerVote in Zap2it’s 2nd round of the ’Showdown of the Network Stars’Friday 19 September 2003, by Webmaster VOTE FOR JAMES MARSTERS : http://www.zap2it.com/television/features/battle/1,4022,2-1,00.html LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Defending Showdown of the Network Stars champion Jennifer Garner had no problem in her first-round match, but "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini can’t say the same. Gandolfini, the top seed in the Mountain time zone, was surprisingly upset by No. 16 Rena Sofer of NBC’s "Coupling." Although Sofer is a familiar face from her work on "Ed," "Just Shoot Me" and "General Hospital," her new show has yet to premiere. Fellow "Soprano" Edie Falco was also one of the first round’s upset victims, falling to "Gilmore Girl" Alexis Bledel by more than 1,000 votes. Benjamin McKenzie ("The O.C."), Alicia Silverstone ("Miss Match") and Amanda Bynes ("What I Like About You") were also among the lower seeds to win their first-round matchups. For the most part, though, the higher seeds had an easy time of it in the first round, which saw about 10,000 votes cast across the four regions. Garner and "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston were the two top vote-getters with more than 2,100 each. "CSI" star William Petersen, the No. 2 seed in the Pacific, nearly lost to No. 15 Tony Shalhoub ("Monk") but staged a late flurry to win. The second round features several intriguing matchups, including Rob Lowe, No. 5 in the Eastern zone, facing his former fictional boss, "West Wing" star and fourth seed Martin Sheen. There are several intra-network battles as well, including Bledel vs. "Angel’s" James Marsters in the Pacific and Eliza Dushku vs. Kiefer Sutherland in an all-FOX match in the Mountain. |
