Action, humor, and heartfelt drama were hallmarks of the show, but, ultimately, Buffy was the dream girl of geeky dudes everywhere, as well as the capable yet vulnerable young woman that nerd girls wanted to be. "Firefly" (2002, Fox) A ragtag group of space cowboys (ahem, cowpersons) traveling throughout the universe trying to eke out a living, legal or otherwise: The combination of the space setting and antiestablishment ’tude was a can’t-miss prospect. OK, actually, it did miss, and the show lasted less than a whole season, but the "Firefly" crew was so beloved that the series was followed by a big-screen movie, "Serenity" in 2005, and a lifetime of geek goodwill for star Nathan Fillion.
