Whedonverse.org Joss WhedonWhedonverse.org New Campaign : Valentines Love for the ’VerseSunday 5 February 2006, by Webmaster Love the universes created by Joss Whedon? Let the powers that be know about it this Valentine’s Day! As a Whedon fan, when I think of Valentine’s Day I can’t help but remember that painful day back in 2004 when Angel fans found out their beloved show was cancelled. Last year at this time, I worked with Spike fans to help keep the dream of a Spike telemovie alive by sending Kristen Veitch at E! Online a bouquet of flowers and a note reading: "A year ago our hearts were broken, we don’t need an Angel to fix it, but James Marsters could get our blood flowing again." Not long afterwards, Kristen interviewed Marsters where he repeated his previous statements that he would be willing to reprise his role as Spike, but it would need to happen sooner rather than later. It was a source of hope. This year I’d like to do something similar, only in addition to Spike, I hope this year’s plan will provide all Whedonites with an opportunity to express their love for the ’verse regardless of which character or show you prefer. So, here’s the idea: send Valentine cards to Joss Whedon, Mike Ausiello, Kristen Veitch, Dawn Ostroff (president of new CW network), Dana Walden (head of 20th Century Fox) and Stacey Snider (Chairman of Universal Pictures). The cards are to express our love for the ’verse and to thank the person for their involvement in creating or supporting the show or in some cases just to let them know we’d love to see more of the ’verse on television or film. For our part, the Whedonverse Multimeda Project will send a bouquet of flowers to Joss Whedon via his representative at Creative Artists Association. It will be accompanied by a card thanking him for Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity. It’s tempting to beg him for a Spike movie and more Serenity, but we’ll try to resist the urge.
