From Whedonverse.org Alyson HanniganWhedonverse.org Tribute to Alyson HanniganMonday 14 March 2005, by Webmaster Tribute to Alyson Hannigan "That means hacking illegaly into the school computer- finally something I can do." - Willow Alyson HanniganThe Whedonverse Multimedia Project seeks to donate Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel the Series, and Firefly DVDs to public libraries and other charitable organizations. At the beginnig of the Project, fans were asked to nominate producers, writers and actors from the shows to receive a donation in their honor to their hometown library. The nominated libraries provided the Project a place to start until it developed a name for itself and began receiving requests for donations from librarians. Once all the nominations have been fulfilled, the Project will provide DVDs to the requesting libraries on it’s waiting list. The Project will accept additional nominations only after the completion of donations to the libraries currently listed. Alyson Hannigan is the last nominee from this first round of nominations. Alyson was born on March 24th, 1974 in Washington D.C. to parents Al and Emily. Her parents divorced when she was 2 and she moved with her mother, who worked in real estate, to Atlanta. Her father worked as a truck driver in Missouri. In Atlanta, at the young age of 4, Alyson began appearing in television commericials for companies like Six Flags over Georgia, Oreos and McDonalds. At age 11, she moved to Los Angeles. One of her most notable early roles was a Jessie Mills in My Step Mother is an Alien. She also did a number appearances on various tv shows such as Roseanne, Almost Home, Touched By An Angel, and Picket Fences. Whedonverse fans know her best from her role as Willow Rosenberg in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She played a lovable and shy nerd who studied Wicca and became a rather formidable Witch. She also made a few guest appearances on the spin-off series Angel. Alyson made a few guest appearances on Veronica Mars this year and is said to be signed on to a new CBS pilot called "How I Met Your Mother." She lives in Los Angeles with husband Alexis Denisof, who is also a star from both Buffy and Angel. As a tribute to Alyson’s fine work on the show, the Project would like to donate up to two complete sets of Buffy and Angel to the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library. If funding permits, we’ll also include Firefly to make the library’s Whedonverse collection more complete. We will accepting donations from now until March 18th. We hope to be able to complete the donation in time for her birthday on the 24th. All donations to the Project will be used toward purchasing DVDs for public libraries and other charitable organizations. A card announcing the donation will be sent to Alyson along with the names of those who contributed. |
