Charlotte.com Your pop culture faves may come in a dolly form (buffy mention)Courtney Devores Sunday 26 November 2006, by Webmaster To me, dollies — which is what I call action figures — are art. My house is populated by miniature versions of characters from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Charmed," "Sin City" and "Highlander," among others. Most people are oblivious to the world of collectible action figures. But if you watch the show, like the movie, or own the CD, there may well be a "dolly" for you (or someone else, just in time for the holidays). Here are a few I’ve stumbled upon: • Mezco Toyz’s 9-inch Notorious B.I.G. will be available this month in three different stylin’ outfits ($26). Chuck D and Flavor Flav of Public Enemy ($42.99 for both) can keep Biggie company. • Gwen Stefani unveiled "Love Angel Music Baby"-inspired dolls at Target this week ($19.99 each). There are four Gwens and four Harajuku girls. • Fall Out Boy is also tentatively scheduled to arrive in 3D comic-like form this December ($14.99 per piece). FOB follows SOTA Toys’ Johnny Cash and Twiztid figures. • Lifelike, talking, 7-inch recreations of `Lost’ characters Hurley, Locke, Charlie, Shannon, Kate and Jack ($14.99 to $16.99 per piece) hit stores this month. Sawyer, Sun, Jin, Mr. Eko, Sayid and Desmond join them next spring. Other highlights include "Family Guy" Series 6 ($12.99 each); talking, 18-inch John Lennon ($33.99) and Freddie Mercury ($34.99) figures; Mezco’s campy, 3-inch Mez-itzs of Run DMC, Edwards Scissorhands, Jason, Freddy and Leatherface; and Neca Toys’ Cult Classics line of horror favorites. |
