Great review.

I agree with this review, especially about the wasted potential Cordelia/Angel romance. What a great pair they would have made! Their relationship was so much more interesting and believable than the trite high-school romance between Buffy and Angel.

Also, the part about Fred and Gunn is dead accurate. Gunn’s only purpose during his tenure on ATS was to provide substitute muscle to hold AI together during the ’Beige Angel’ arc of S2. Once Angel returned to AI, Gunn became superfluous.

As for Fred, they should have left her in Pylea. Watching her gradually usurp Cordelia’s place at AI was painful and her ’cutsypoo’ mannerisms were ultra-irritating. I don’t blame Acker, btw, I blame the writing since Fred was perfectly likeable on the rare occasions they wrote her as a competent adult (e.g. In Harm’s Way, Magic Bullet).

I liked Holtz as a villian primarily because his motivations were completely understandable.

Should have made a bigger mention of Wesley in the review. His transformation was definitely the most compelling storyline of the season!
