The last commenter had it right and where as I respect his opinions voicing this isnt gonna win him any favors. I already am starting to dislike him more and prolly wont be watching the rest of his smallville episodes. bad move james. bad, bad move.

JM’s hardcore fans have long recognized that he suffers from "foot-in-mouth disease", & we love him anyway. Plus who knows what the full conversation was like, mags always publish quotes out of context, especially if it makes something sound controversial. If his fans understand that, I’m sure his friends & co-workers do too. As for his fans not recognising him ... not gonna happen :=) We would follow him anywhere, even to Smallville.

He’s probably right none on you was on the set so you don’t know what really went down there. As someone said earlier he was no young kid like Sarah, Nick, and the rest. Now that he has a new part in a pretty popular series he can say what really is on his mind and not do the political thing to keep in good relations with the Buffy and Angle staff. Hell don’t see Sarah or any of the staff hang out together now do you that should tell you something. Let the man voice his opinion and let him be cause really in both series he was the only reason I watch them.

I believe, like quite a lot of printed interviews, that this is out of context. James Marsters, and his "Buffy" co-stars, have spoken repeatedly about how they respect one another. James Marsters has said that he likes to stay mostly in character between takes and would sit by himself in corners, to keep the "Spike" persona intact.

The problem with interviews is, you don’t know how they looked before the editor got hold of them. I’ve heard firsthand from columnists who’ve submitted interviews with actors or other public figures who couldn’t recognize either their own words or their guests’ once the editor got finished interpreting it into something they felt was more attention getting.

Interviewee: I’m having a great time. I think they’ve even managed to make me feel more at home than I did at X. Editor interpretation: I never felt as much at home at X as I do here.

Beyond that, nothing said was insulting or disrespectful to his former castmates and co-workers in any way.

Okay, let me say this..."UGH!!!!" You people seriously make me wanna rip my hair out. I agree with only 2 posts on here, then the rest of you are just plain morons. You were not on the set of BTVS, so you have no idea how they treated James. Maybe one day they liked him, the next they ignored him during breaks. How would you know? Also this is a mag scan, and if you knew anything about mag printing, you’d know that everything in those things is taken out of context. Just leave James Marsters alone, you should be fucking happy—excuse my french—that he even is WILLING to take the role as Spike back. And if I were him right now, I’d say screw all of you. And I wouldn’t return to my former character just to please the ignorant fans that cut me down ever so often. If I were James that is. And for the rest of you who keep saying that James was the "kid" of the show, you’re bloody idiots too! The man was already in his mid 30’s when he joined the cast, while everyone else was in their early 20’s, besides Tony Head(Giles). So maybe, just maybe some days on the set everyone treated him differently. Like during season 6, when Sarah, only being in her 20’s, had to make out with this guy who is already 40. Now don’t get me wrong, he is very handsome, but you know you would feel odd if you were an actress and had to do that. So I’m sure she had her momments of the whole "ignoring James." So yes, on Smallville maybe James does feel more at home because he is working with actors around his age this time. So give the guy a break. Geeze.
