Wednesday 9 August 2006, by nmcil : Many thanks for posting this wonderful article - Having to think about all the complex issues The Buffyverse explored is what kept bringing the viewers back every week and for all the seasons; themes that still keeps us thinking about all these characters. With respect to the issue of "taking responsibility and care for consequences" of theme explored on TV - The thing I most loved and respected about all series Joss Whedon created was exactly that the audience was presented with very complex issues - the very same issues and dynamics that our realtime life and world have to confront. Issues that ravage people living within the social structures of our society. Certainly, writers and creators must consider carefully the theme presented on tv but creating "sweets only" and avoiding the complexity of how realtime people live and interact is, in my opinion, vital to any development toward more positive and mature ways of trying to solve the problems that we all live with. Buffy and Spike were, and continue to be, a great canvas for great drama and a grand force for making the viewers think. Irrespective of which side of their relationship you wanted or were comfortable with, you always had to think, think and think. I for one send my Greatest Thank You to Joss Whedon and all his creative staff and the actors in all his series. I have worked on many pieces of visual art and small poems which are produced because of The Buffyverse and the powerful work all these wonderful creative people brought to us and thanks again for bringing these article for us to read.
