Wednesday 16 August 2006, by Jackieblond : I can understand some of what he’s saying with Season 6 about it being overly story-arcy and not many stand-alones - and also even in Season 5 which is very much so a story-arc season - though both are still great seasons of Buffy (maybe Season 5 - which I love - slightly more than 6 - which i also love most of), but Season 7 - which I also really love - is pretty much completely back to how the old seasons of Buffy were; an overall theme & impending story-arc but with many stand-alone episodes to keep it fresh & new and approachable to newcomers, that was pretty much the writers mission statement with season 7, to go back to how Buffy was originally. Think of all the episodes that didnt prominently involve The First or the Spike storyline, they were all great stand-alones but with still enough emotional resonance & to include something extra for the diehard fans. Anyway, rant over...These comments are an anwser to this article : When Story Arcs Lead To Cancellation (buffy mention)
