Women in Comics Have NOT changed my life - but I think that the comics of today are very different than when I was a young girl or child - For the current generation and the future the comic book world would be in a better position to speak to issues that young women connect with.

Joss Whedon’s work with The Buffyverse, while it did have comic book spin off, is in such a different category and level - it worked on such a high intellectual level and was so intimately connected with what happens in ones everyday world - That is what makes his series a "Life Changing and Affirming" Project - that it was so vital a reflection of dynamics in our lives - from political, social structures, women’s issues, mythic & religious symbols. At every level and perspective from which one viewed the Buffyverse, Angel, as well as Firefly - it touched deep issues that we lived with - it was not a fantasy to escape into or to be thrilled with for a few minutes of reading. Just the opposite happened with the series, it stayed with you and made you think and think and think -
