While I agree on several aspects that you mention, I would just like to say that yes the central point may have ended with the season finale of the third season. But if they would have wanted to keep the central point, would that mean becoming one of those lame shows were the students stay in high school FOREVER? Other than that, I would like to add, that yes, it depends on your definition. I am not a comic book fan, but I found myself wanting more Buffy-stories. So I started reading them. But for me the show ended after the seven seasons. I think that the story of Buffy wasn’t just about surviving high school (even though that was it’s initial pitch), but also about growing up (like you said) and surviving in life. I could probably go on about this forever, just like your article is longer than my response. But there is too much to get in to (like Dawn, the killing of major characters or simply put... some of the storylines) and that would probably lead to a very unstructered comment. So I will just leave it at this;).

p.s. You could also include the movie: where does it begin? I wrote a paper about adaptation and Season One is basicly the movie, only than made for television:P.
