Monday 5 April 2004, by Anonymous : Why must this reviewer try and compare Hellboy to BtVS? Hellboy has been around far longer than the tv show and quite frankly will have a greater longevity than either of JW’s shows. Instead of saying if you like BtVS you’ll like Hellboy, how about saying if you’re a fan of gritty supernatural crime fighters check this movie out. As for wishing that JW had had a hand in crafting some witty dialogue ala BtVS, if that had happened then it wouldn’t be Hellboy now would it? Instead we’d be watching some pale imitation that wouldn’t even be recognisable as Mignola’s creation. Perhaps this reviewer ought to go and read some of the Hellboy comics or at least listen to interviews with Mignola or del Toro in order to get a firm grasp on what exactly Hellboy is all about.
