I mean, joss holds true to all those (lame) old vampire myths. Think about this: crosses repel vampires, and holy warter hurts them. Even churches seem to have an effect on vampires, as we see Angel feeling uneasy in them (well one time in season 1). Obviously it is not a religious show. It doesn’t follow anytype of god,but hold a generic aspect of spirituality. It;’s higher power is not named, it is just "the powers that be." However, that does not make it unchristian.
