Wait. Is it really because she played a lesbian, or just because it was on Buffy The Vampire Slayer?

I’m sorry, but let me be the first to say, "that’s just mean."

Personally, I have a feeling that the WB doesn’t want her because she isn’t a stick figure and they just don’t want to come out and say that. That’s all they have on all of their other shows.

John Rogers, who wrote the "Frequency" pilot and will serve as series showrunner, is too keenly aware of gathering online fan outrage, and wrote in to give Ain’t It Cool his take:

I believe there’s a misunderstanding, but no slur. I still love Amber; I’m the one who approached her, I’m the one who brought her in, I still think she’s a helluva actress, and will always drop her into the top of the casting list for any appropriate part. Until we finalize casting on the part in GF it’s inappropriate for me to comment further. It’s the pilot process: it’s horrendously complicated and unpleasant for all concerned. So far we’ve gotten insanely lucky on our casting, and I can only pray our luck continues.

"I just want the fans to know I respect their concerns, respect their affection for a fine actress, and I’m trying to make a show that speaks to them, which is why Amber would be the type of actress considered in the first place."

That is just wrong! What are they thinking!

Can anyone clear this up for me? I am unfamiliar with the concept of Global Frequency. Is it meant for children? Does WB have any legitimate reason for refusing Amber? I mean seriously I don’t think she should be typecast forever as a lesbian..or as Tara, but is there a reason in anyone’s mind why the excuse given for the veto might make sense? Because as is it worded here, it just doesn’t. It’s like saying Angel was cancelled because it didn’t repeat well, and then showing reruns of it at 10 pm repeatedly.

Notice to WB > You lost me as a viewer when you cancelled Angel. A decision you are now kicking yourself for. You almost had a shot of me giving one of your shows a chance. Honestly though, better to make a decision and not give any reason at all, then to give a nonsensical reason.

that is just plain mean! but i think it was because she was on buffy. if they did it because she was a gay character-then kerr smith would of been kicked off the wb’s dawsons creek-bc his character was gay... and aly wouldnt of hosted pepsi smash last year.

She’s an actress. She tried for a part and didn’t get it. We all like her, she wasn’t what the people in charge were looking for. Alyson tried out for Willow but they picked a different actress to do the pilot. Julie Benz tried out for Buffy. So did Charisma. Just because they didn’t get the role doesn’t mean the casting directors were stupidheads, Julie and Charisma weren’t Buffy.

She got the role..the directer gave her the role but the Wb wont pick uo the show if shes init.

This is nothing to do with how good of an actress she is!
